Don't cut down on the leg armor and this thing will be more than fine.

Those high shoulder mounts though. This thing is soooo meta.

Not necessarily. Meta would have been cockpit level hardpoints that don't add big boxes above the cockpit. I'm not too excited about these mounts because they are SO HUGE. Those STs are going to be bullet magnets.

Indeed. It will be XL hostile. I imagine Throwing a easy quad helping of UAC/10s bursts into it and then it's done.....

One can hope that they give it some real brawly quirks so that it can withstand punishment. a +13 to STs and +15 to CT armor or structure but with values adjusted to +15 and +18 would benefit it greatly.

I do like how it looks. Will be a great mech to buy with Cbills and master, just like the linebackers I'm working on right now. ( which will take longer now since I went all Roleplay bat**** and bought myself a quickdraw just to say I have a gundam in my game ;w;)

Hero Roughneck can run a light Roughneck 4xLPPC 1xGR, XL300, more than enough DHS to keep it cool, and 3 tons of ammo. Puts it going 74kph which is pretty hilarious hill poke, faster cycle due to LPPC. For stock you got 2xUAC or 2xAC5 or even 2xLight Gauss in the RT. Seriously with light engine the Roughneck can run 2xLight Gauss in the Right Torso which gives 10.5 tons for ammo, a head energy weapon, and missile weapon in the side torso and being put into the engine itself. This would be decent, sure only 16 damage poke, but, dem high mounts.

Probably a half decent build would be 2xAC5 2xMRM10 LFE300 with a MPL in the head, would run cold practically, have 2 tons of ammo (24 launches per MRM10 launcher) and 4 tons of ammo for the AC5's, arms are thin, but, ain't using them (not my style but, eh). No worries of dying to losing a side torso. So with July, Roughneck is going to get stronger outside of that hero and 3A running energy vomit. Probably see mostly 4xSRM6+A + UAC5 + 2.5 tons of ammo as well (one crit slot left over!) and XL300 to do it with, bit toasty, but 1.3 cooling is where people like it.

Roughneck is going to be a flexible chassis but not unkillable and not too overtly powerful. No jump jets, no high mounted ST energy and ballistics at the same time, we will see some LRM15 vomit out of it, LRM60 looks like it would be the likely set up. Probably the highest highest alpha we will see out of it is a 2xSRM6+A + AC20 or 4xSRM6+A+UAC5 set up which isn't terrifying but it is strong. IDK, throwing stuff out there, sure you can do triple LPL on it as well, for a 33 alpha which is by no means terrible and split up which is superior to the thunderbolt builds carrying it. All in all, it has it's niche in the game.

Well it can't be made too powerful or Clanners start unleashing the waterworks.

IMO the upper pods are only bad if the roughneck is small enough that other mechs can easily target the pods from the side, if its tall enough (like GHR tall or so) it won't be that bad. It's got super fat thighs though Posted Image

First off I think this mech will do alright in QP, FW, and might not see work in Comp but doable if required. This is all before piloting just first impression based off seeing some weapon mounts and sizing for potential hit boxes.

Some one mentioned it earlier that this mech is fat in the legs, and I agree its like a skinny waist with a big butt and thick thighs ... not going to lie but I like.

In truth I think this mech will play like a Thunderbolt that looks like a bigger bottomed Shadowhawk.

Just my opinions though and impressions, but happy hunting.

Lol no. This is a 65 ton Inner Sphere mech. Which means there is no way it can effectively boat LRM60 without seriously hampering other areas, such as ammo count, or armor, or mobility. Only Clan Heavies with their half weight CLRMs can do such a build.

LRM40 or LRM45 is more likely.

That's a bit disappointing. I mean yeah it kind of looks cool, but that doesn't really look thin like the concept art. xD

I am talking about the lurmtard not the effective LRM boat, effective would be LRM40 where you have the mobility and Artemis to back it up, no I am talking about the people who just want the to slap 7 tons of ammo with 4 LRM15's on it because you can with the XL260 and Endo. Effective use would be LRM40 and would be decent because the side torso mount probably could clear most cover, though no head mounted tag which is actually a shame.
