Did it legit with my Urbie's 4 MGs, just got into a lot of short range fighting in a match and ran the MGs dry.

I just did it in a gauss + PPC mech in a frozen city poke off.

I haven't actually seen any ammo dumping.

Then again, I've personally been running out of ammo for my guns before the match ends simply because the matches have been that hot. My 6xAC/2, 2xSRM6 Mauler has been scoring about 700 damage per match this entire weekend.

Dunno why people would do that on a pure/heavy dakka or missile build. I just slapped an AC/2 and a ton of ammo on my Misery with an ERLL spam build and held down the fire button whenever I was giving someone facetime, went through that like nothing.

take a timberwolf.
stick on a single uac2 and a half ton ammo.
equip the rest of it with a bunch of medpulse and sinkage.
dont be a leeroy.
camp with the uac2 till it runs dry.
commence a slaughtering with the medpulse.
do not die.

then its just a 50/50 chance of you having the better team.

why didnt i just use a machine gun? quite simply the timby has more tonnage than slots and so it works out better, also it takes a single machine gun forever to run out of ammo, 2 maybe, more than that and you are using up too many valuable slots. alternatives are a coule of srm6es and a half ton, or a narc and a half ton. really on any ballistics laser mixed build will work by swapping ammo for sinkage.

I could have gotten it easily so far by throwing a half ton of MG ammo and 2 C-MGs onto some normal build and just lose a single heatsink. Instead I decided to actually use my Marauder IIC-B and threw on 4MPL, 1LPL, 2 LRM5s with 1.5 tons of ammo. I would have won the challenge in my first match if I had only brought the single ton of ammo, ended up winning with 80 rounds left over at the end of a tourmaline match.

Nice to hear AMS triggers the reward, I'll just strap that onto one of my laser mechs.

Just run an Oxide, wreck half of the enemy team - run out of ammo, watch rest of the team barely secure the match... this is how it usually plays out with the Oxide anyway.

On polar I dumped 2500 LRMs on the range and got it. Enemy had two mechs left when I run out of ammo.

I have 500+ AC2 ammo on my BJ-1 and 4 times I ran dry playing legit during this competition.

Who needs MG with 1/2 ton ammo when you can DAKKAAAA!
