Just some quick additional recommendations.

if you want to get really good at brawling then its past time for training. Que training montage from favorite movie.

if you dont have one then buy a Centurion

use http://metamechs.com...ides/centurion/ as your guide for model and build.

and then practice practice practice the core of whats being preached here in this thread.

once you get your self up to 300 damage games and 1 to 2 kills a game as your norm, you may be ready for Marauder brawling.

same site http://metamechs.com...uides/marauder/ choose a build

learn it, and aim for 400 damage games with 2 to 3 kills as your norm and try to be alive at the the end.

if you can get to where your regularly getting kills and decent damage numbers from these two mechs then your pretty much ready for assault brawling.

which i will leave up to you to find and play how you want to, but try and get those previously mentioned mechs under your belt, so to speak. to help aid you in the rudimentary needs of how be a capable brawler. learning how to survive and get kills in these two mechs will pretty much teach you the fundamentals of brawling in mwo.

Yes, now I use a 2 UAC10 4 MLAS Loki running at 4.57DPS and 31% cooling and it seems to be exactly the kind of play that works for MWO... supporting the push, scaring enemies away with the UAC fire and generally bagged me the most winning games I ever had playing this game all these years... not even my 2 UAC5 + 2 LLAS timber is doing so well, perhaps of the ECM?

I changed my timber to : http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f8caff0bce63a87

My Loki http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3d45610c412d4f4

HBR-A

This is a better Loki build.

MORE DPS than the UAC10s AND 36% cool-efficiency instead of 29%. Also twice as much ammo.
It is 180 bullets not 180 shots, each shot takes 3 or more bullets which is 6 together and 180/6 is 30 shots. You want to take at least 50 shots when you have TWO of a ballistic.

DO NOT shave your shoulder armor off especially if that is where you keep your weapons, do NOT take more than 12 back armor, nothing should be getting behind a mech that can run 87kph. The only time I even take 12 back armor is in my DWF or AS7 which move at 52kph and twist super slow. The faster you can move and twist = the less back armor you need.

WARRANT

Here is a re-imagining of your TBR build. You have a Ballistic hardpoint in the torso so you might as well put it there and not take any armor in the arm. This allows you to bring twice as much ammo.

You are running around with barely any ammo, if you don't Rambo out into the fray and die right away you can actually USE that ammo.

Good rule of thumb is take 25-30 shots per ballistic weapon. When I take a single Gauss rifle I take 3 tons of ammo, when I take two Gauss rifles I bring 5 or 6 tons of ammo.

Another rule of thumb I follow is for every 4 tubes you have of SRMs you should bring 1 ton of ammo, so 4xSRM6 should bring about ~6 or 7 tons of ammo to last the whole match.

One last thing if it hasn't been mentioned already:

Play with people that you know or talk frequently with; As someone who started out in this game in 2013, I got lucky and found a unit, and became a competent player through teamwork and much, much more.

May I suggest something, join a unit that does competitive MRBC in the AP region. Now the reason why I suggest this is more to the point it gives you a great group to play with in group to learn other ways to play or to fix some nuances you may have. Also and more importantly if it is competitive many of the matches turn into a brawl with small pulses and srms (which sounds just up your play style if you can take commands).

Some of us don't *want* to get out of T3 into T2.

I'm in the top 1/4 of T3 after being literally at the bottom of T5 with a .17 global KDR when PSR started and I've been playing since July 2015. I grew it to .74 global, now have several mechs with positive W/L and K/D, and I think I was in positive territory in one of the leaderboards by weight one season. Usually not, because I run semi-lore builds and mechs ranking T3 and below on Metamechs. When I switch out to T1 threats and laser vomit builds, I tend to do better more often...and move up in PSR. I can hold my own in group queue with a laser build (1179 damage score last night running with T1s in my unit), but those games are fast paced and not as much fun.

I was having fun down in T4, and I hated moving into T3. I've gotten used to it, but I still have less fun in high level PuG matches. When I start getting gauss-spammed or AC2s for days from a klick away and can't see where it's coming from for the ECM blanket as thick as pea soup fog, and comms are filled with salt, I know I'm up against higher level players and it's going to be annoying. I can play their game but I need to have a meta build (which I'm usually not running) and be in the mindset. In other words I need to be in a laser build of some kind and something with speed and jump jets, and able to strike at the high midrange or long range, with LL or ERLL. Even mediocre mechs like the Phoenix Hawk-1 do better in a high end game than a Vindicator but the Vindicator can work if built right. Slow means dead because you'll get left behind and light-ganked in a slow assault. Tactical LRMs work...sometimes. But again, you have to be fast and aggressive and stick with the murderball.

I don't have the twitch skills to compete reliably at that level, honestly. I like to be able to play chess at the speed of an Urbanmech and think about my next move, not run at warp 9 all day every day and snipe snipe snipe all the darn time. So I watch my slowly advancing PSR with a little irritation, because when I hit T2 sometime in 2018 at this rate, it's going to be that all the time.
