Remove The Map Vote Option Mini-Game

Would also be great if all maps had a equal percentage of getting. Hot, cold, long and short range makes people keep their builds honest. If the map is for brawling or whatever the case maybe. Random makes it FAIR for everyone.
One more idea, is to bring back all the old maps, and for the small ones, like river city and forrest colony you could make them into Arena maps. 4vs4 and what not.....
Anyway, I think removing the voting screen would speed up drops and improve drops.

Before the voting, people screamed in agony because they could hardly ever play the "nicer" maps and had to waste half their playing time on "bad" maps.
That's perfectly fixed now.
Whenever there's Canyon or HPG or Mining in the vote, you can be 90% sure the match will happen on one of these.
My impression is:
People only always see the downsides of things.
Like map voting was a 90% improvement with 10% problems and people scream like crazy because of those 10%, completely ignoring the huge improvment it got them.
I bet if voting got removed, the screaming would be ten times as much as it is now with occasional funny threads like this here.

Yeah, im sure there would be just as many or more whining about it.
I always have balanced effective builds for any map, and my scores are legit. Dont let the map carry your bad game play.
I try to play the mini-game so I can vote Terra Therma regardless of what mech im in, I just know bad players cant manage their heat.
Voting didnt improve anything, that is an opinion.

LRM map usually shows up more in GQ. In SQ, maps such as Polar is not that commonly picked. Mostly it is Crimson, and Frozen, thanks to the inclusion of Escort mode biasing map selection.
Personally, I have sight issue so I am benefiting from map selection, as pugs generally pick maps with less visual obstructions.

Playing the same three maps, over and over and over again is "fixed"?
I mean I get a kick out of how the OP managed to make random map voting into an Epeen fest, when it's just as much the "good" players as the "Bads" who constantly vote for the same damn maps over and over again (hence why we see so much Grim, Mining and Canyon), but claiming things are perfect now? Just... no.
It repetitive and boring as hell now, just like the meta, the builds, etc.

If it's random you'll get a choice. You can take a hot mech and hope for a cold map or you could learn heat management, OR you could take a balanced decent build. It doesn't matter because it's the same for everyone. If it's random you'll also eventually get a map you like.

If by "nicer" you meant "perfect fit to my metawhoring load out", then yes, that is what many people did.

An alternative and much simpler viewpoint is that many people liked the idea of not knowing what map to drop on and map voting ruined that for them.

Playing the same 3 maps over and over again -- along with my "3 Skirmish drops and I'm done with MWO for the day/week/month" rule -- is what drove me to buy an RSeat RS1, load it up with a full HOTAS and rudder setup, mount iPads as control panels, and play War Thunder.
Now all I have left to buy is a steering wheel.

And let's face it..most of the screaming would be from metawhores butthurt that they couldn't perfectly tailor the exact perfect metavanillagundam to bring to the map...just like before.... "OMG!!! Terra Therma is teh badzor for mah Wubshee/VomitWolf/InsertGenericLazorPewPewBoatHere...."
Control issues, I guess? Or maybe adaptation on the fly and "dealing with it" aren't skill taught at MetaSchool?

Blaming people who want non-garbage maps (regardless of how map selection works) is like saying the best original Doom 1 map is wow.wad.
Map design isn't just about art... it's literally about "how it plays".

Play the same damn song, or video over and over again, doesn't matter how "good" it is.... it gets Stale AF. Paranoid is beyond classic as a Sabbath album. It's also been played to death to the point that it's boring. Same goes for your Maps. Doesn't matter if it's "better" if it's all you see. It get's stale, old, boring, and at that point even an inferior item (like say..Vol 4) becomes a pleasant change.

That doesn't make bad maps like Alpine more appreciable.
I don't mind a change of pace. I do mind if I get the worst map of the bunch that never seems to get any sort of TLC.
I mean, if PGI can make New Terra Therma be less bad than Old Terra Therma (new Terra Therma sucks, but it's actually not complete garbage), surely one can fix Alpine.

Doesn't make being forced to listen to ClearChannel can the same damn 8 songs over and over all day any more desirable either. It would be one thing if the maps were so bad to be outright unplayable. MWO doesn't actually have one of those anymore, though for my money the worst is the "new" forest colony. Do they have some lackluster, substandard maps? Yup.
But I'll take hearing God is Dead thrown into the mix to listening to Iron Man for the 50th time in one day.
