A somewhat accurate summation, though TBH, I don't see polar near as often as Mining and HPG or Canyon. And I love sneaking up using that "non existent"cover on polar to gut LRM spuds.

Haze? Snow? Dust? Darkness? Sunlight shining on your face?
Anything that does not give crystal clear 100% perfect visibility will not be tolerated by the player base. No siree!

I try to kill 50% of the player base every match. You think i care if they dont get their 2004; no shadow, no ambient occlusion parkinlot? Battlefield4 is a great example of weather event done right. Bindling sandstorm and tropical storm change the gameplay. Maybe its good for you at that time or maybe you need to win before that happens. Dont matter, it makes the gameplay dynamic and engaging. Given the nature of the short 10minutes mwo games id be fine of those event only lasted 5minutes or even just a passing 2minute event randomly.

I'd love sandstorms and monsoon rains, even if it's the whole 15 minutes!

The other option is map and mode weights. By this every week we have the top picked mode and the top 3 maps weight for showing up nuked so they don't show up then the week after their weight is increased a bit. This creates a cycle. If PGI adds a map every quarter or six months and a mode per year it works out reasonably well with voting.
I would enjoy seeing more maps either way, going back to the old system has it's issues unless PGI manages to get MM to delay a little to let people not constantly get the same map. I would enjoy seeing weather on maps, I enjoyed the **** visibility on frozen city day and forest colony snow, because it makes the alternate vision modes useful. If these were dynamic to a degree it would be great, haboos on canyon, or monsoons. Typhoons on forest colony as well as maybe an ash fall version (there is an active volcano). Give Frozen city more frequent low visibility segments (best at the initial few minutes of the match while positioning then again about 3/4ths through the match onward). Stuff like that would be pretty nice. Not always happening, kind of a roll of the dice at the beginning of the match if it will or won't happen and when in the match.

Lets be allowed to vote on *any* of the possible maps at once instead of 4 then once a map is picked we can pick out what gamemode to play from those available on that map.
This will result in the majority of players being happy, which is always true in the case of a decision by voting.

Better not complain when 90% of your matches are from then on in Polar LRMlands, Alpine Peaksnipes, and F***-its-cold City.

I'm glad you asked. People loudly and incessantly demanded skirmish and PGI got weak-kneed.
Ah, so, 90% of how things end up being with MWO, should have known.

No, you will see a lot of HPG, Canyon, Crimson, and Tourmaline as well. While people like cold maps, they also like their well balanced maps, and quick action maps. Terra Therma would pass on into legend, as would Forest Colony.

Better than Bog, Terra Therma, Forest Colony, and Caustic Valley.
Besides that I see polar and alpine so rarely that I'd assume people would be fighting between grim plexus, HPG, crimson, canyon network, and mining collective. Which I'd be very happy with.
also tourmaline.

that would give us twice as many maps with a whole lot less work . just think tera therma inverted would be a huge crater surrounded by a lot of holes. that we all would fall in to and could not get out . then scouting would have a true purpose. to find the trapped mechs, and call out their postion to the more agile pilots. talk about a change of pace.

Yup, even with RNG, it'sw not truly random.
Funny thing? Since voting I have sometimes gone over a month without seeing a certain map. I never had a streak like that with RNG.

Indeed, have had the same issue, there was a good month where I never saw bog. Another month where I never saw Mining, okay that wasn't a month that was more like three months. After escort I hadn't seen HPG until last week. Caustic I saw for the first time in about four months last week as well.
This is why we need some change to the current system as what it is now is not working, what is was under the old system didn't work for everyone as well. Because for every person who kept getting a different match each game someone got the same map over and over it felt like. Because I would bring it up "ugh not bog again" and I would get a reply of "this is the first time I have seen it today" and it was odd to hear. Hence the whole "have match maker make certain players don't see the same map too often".
So no system is perfect but, if we are going to do something it needs some kind of way to help cycle the maps we see. Random no vote with MM checking to see if we have recently played on it 3 times in the past hour or two. Or something, don't have specifics, but, something to help us see more maps than the select few. We have 14 maps, it feels like far less.

God no, then we'd be playing the same 3-4 maps every single match.

Vote against the map you don't want the most. Least veto votes wins, or a random of the most equal veto votes.
I don't have a problem with most maps, just some maps I'd simply prefer to avoid if given a choice.
This way PGI might get some useful metrics on maps that people hate and have problems with.
Yeah, I like this idea.
I like the idea we talked about, Vote for the map you dont want to get, and if you get the map you dont want to get, you get a multiplier

For instance, I want to see drops with only hot maps as choices, or only cold maps, or only open maps, or only city maps.
