Example: 4000 MC Hero would cost 40,000,000 C-Bills

Yes, very expensive, but now they aren't paywalled, which means they can be used in competitive play (leagues and the comp queue that is coming) which dramatically increases the demand for them.

Of course, they also shouldn't get the unique camo or c-bill boost, only the MC versions get those.

Pros:
They aren't paywalled, all P2W fears go away
Increased demand because they are eligible for comp play
Happier player base -> more $$ spent

Cons:
Some space rich players who don't care about the camo or c-bill bonus will get them for C-bills if they want them

This kind of seems like a no-brainer to me. People buy mech packs, they will buy heros for cash/MC as well to avoid the grind. They don't have to worry about a huge grind for mech packs but they buy them anyway because they want the early release or the collector version with the c-bill bonus. It also goes a long way in making the player base happier as now the mechs aren't paywalled, and that good faith will result in more cash purchases.

Honestly, I would venture to guess that the sales lost for those space-rich players will be more than made up for by the sales gained by happier players and comp players that can actually use the mechs in all aspects of play.

Why not just add them as "Reinforcement Variants" at normal price, just sans the special skins and cbills? I don't want PGI going and making Heroes notably better than standard designs no matter how accessible they are. Don't need more license to power creep. But they do need to break the pay wall, while still maintaining sales, some way.

I just thought my solution is more of a compromise that would be more attractive/acceptable to PGI. Implementing a large grind is still an incentive to pay, but if you wanted to just do the grind you could.

Fair enough. I'm sure our dandified and entitled masses would just find something else to ***** about anyhow, so yeah, let's do it. Seriously, people who think this game is grindy are seriously sheltered. Go try to get your hands on the USS Missouri in World of War Ships, then get back to me about the Grind here.....

So compared to other grind games, yeah, it still wouldn't be totally ridiculous.

1: No... now you get dicked two ways to sunday instead of one. Nobody likes the grind. Especially arbitrary ones.
2: That increase will only widen the gap between the people who have disposable time and the people who lack disposable income (or can use it for mech). Again it will in reality leave nobody happy.
3: How does making something free generate more money...? Becuase tossing people a bone will not drive up sales. In fact it has a good chance to lower sales of the mechs (or mechs in general due to the grind aspect)

How will it widen the gap more than it is already widened? Posted Image

I'll give you that, but that's a special situation for comp because they outlawed those variants to avoid P2W in the first place. I'd rather there be an increased grind than have a situation where we have to outlaw variants because of P2W concerns. It's not perfect, but it is better than the current situation.

As I have said before, I do not think any of these heroes are pay to win nor are the new omni-pods. However, paying cash in this game is only supposed to save you from the grind, not give you an even slightly better chance to win. To appease those that will not spend money on the game but want access to all the stuff, I think offering the new pods for greatly inflated C-Bill prices is a good workable solution.

Hero Omnipods should be sold for MC and it would not be PaytoWin. Why? Because PGI gives away MC for free with events.

How much MC did you get from the Loot Bags? Certainly enough to buy a Hellbringer Loyalty RT. Oh, wait... You didn't grind during the loot bag event? Oh, then you can use cash to buy MC and bypass the grind.

No.. You see if we agree that they are P2W... That also means that the actual balance is off. That in turn means that they provide an substantial advantage. This in turn make them mandatory for their chassie in a comp situation due to "bleeding edge" So either A: they would still be banned or B: it would become a mandatory grind.

Neither a good solution.

As it stands now they are a non-factor.

Do you mean the actual MC cost x 10 or do you mean the estimated CBill cost based off of CBill variants x 10? (I'm assuming it's the latter)

Well I meant the former, but honestly, that part can be refined, the idea is hero mechs are either cash or very grindy, so they aren't P2W (and with grind, they don't get the cbill bonus or camo).

I'm really skeptical of "make a CB version" ideas because I think they'll undercut hero sales dramatically, but this just might find the balance. I'd be more likely to still spend for heroes if the CB version was extremely expensive CB-wise.

Even when they were allowed in comp they weren't used exclusively. TBH, most of these heros will have a minimal effect on competitive leagues, the just slightly optimize the chassis they are on, but no one is going to start bringing laser vomit Hellbringers to comp just because they can have an extra laser now. Its still inferior to the Ebon, and laser vomit still only holds a niche use in comp play.

Same, not to mention, I love 30% c-bill boosts. Frankly, I'm less inclined to buy these because they are banned from leagues like MRBC, and likely the ranked queue as well, so there just isn't enough reason to buy them. If they WERE going to be allowed, I would buy a couple of them because I can actually get good use out of them, beyond just farming C-bills in quick play.

I took the title literal at first. I was in the middle of typing a "wtf" comment when it hit me he may have meant the later.

Okay, I didn't type what I meant. I meant a 4000 MC hero would cost 40,000,000 C-bills.

Or PGI could come back with Blaack Markut thing that was supposed to be in MWO, some of us seen those videos with developers talking this stuff before.

And on this Blaack Markut every period of time one of such mechs would appear, champion, hero, special omnipod or something else that PGI approves. That wouldn't be common to not make people count on it as their place to get thing.

And prices would be in C-Bill's or MC's or C-Bill's and MC's. And everything would be heavily overpriced.

But that's not everything.

...

...

...

All this cool stuff would be in very limited amounts and people would be forced to auction for it.

...

...

...

I could go on and say that in order to be able to access those Blaack Markuts your faction would need to control the planet where auction happens. And that other factions would be able to target such planet deliberately to get access to auction. Or prevent other factions. And that real loyalists shouldn't be able to access those Blaack Markuts at all. But this would be to easy to circumvent, it would make everybody whine and cry. Except lorewarriors of course. So we can skip this last paragraph.
