Nah, Take a look at the Kodiak-3. That's a real Assault mech right there.

Or maybe take a look at the Dakka Mauler, or the 9SPL 1LB20 Executioner I personally run. The thing ruins anything smaller than 70 tons quickly if they're not careful.

AC weapons should technically be more powerful than energy weapons. In Lore, medium lasers barely damaged assault mechs.

Hard 30 heat cap. Crit System. Bracket Builds.

Wasnt all just weight class. Most mechs only ran like half armor and MWO doubles max values on top of that.

I actually think that way... big assaults with big guns are meant for range, not brawl... brawl is for smalller mechs with a ton of small weapons with limited range...

So what then does a 100T Brawler Atlas (given, that is their specialty) do exactly?

Sit in the back and just let the "smaller mechs" that brawl, brawl?

What you are saying is downright stupid.

and when the assault is in the back, no one is helping it, a fast medium mech destroy it by running around.. sometimes that does happen right in middle of the team,

that, and the friendly fire because assaut are too big (and armored, they don't mind a few laser shots in the back from teamates...)

This pointless thread from a self-admitted bad player, deleted? Probably asking too much.

Um, yeah they do, one or two half misfires is understandable, but if you are so bad at channeling your fire properly that you hit teammates repeatedly, DON'T HIDE BEHIND PEOPLE, learn how to manage your fire, don't expect people to be happy with a teammate shooting them in the back "because they are big"...

As a player who uses assaults frequently, often having the armspan of a 747 (widely spread out guns), I tend to go most games without hitting teammates, particularly when we are a ball and things are tight. The most frequent scenarios in which I ever hit a teammate is when they run into a stream of my fire, or I desperately torso turn with time on my laser burn. You should never be wasting heat/cooldowns and team armor by hitting a teammate, that is terrible form.

To be honest the last guy that kept hitting me (several times after I told him to watch fire) in the back, I just alpha'd him in the head to stop it.

Haven't seen a lamer thread in quite a while.

Sure, ban newbies from assault mechs, then from heavy mechs, then simply - ban newbs.
You can go quite far with that ya know, because why is a not-so-skilled veteran any better than a newbie? He isn't. So, ban poorly skilled players. Then ban average skilled players. See where this is going yet?

There are two ways you can look at this ...

First is a no-safe-zones approach. You install a (its a joke I know) supposedly thinking-person-shooter. You either suck at it and deal with it, or you begin to improve yourself and keep up the effort until you become good. Same way the self-proclaimed pro players have to deal with newbs in their matches - carry harder or deal with it.

Second is more "environmental friendly" (but requires effort from PGI, so will never happen). It demands a proper deep in-game tutorial, not the "here are the buttons that make your mech walk, here are the buttons that make your mech shoot, education over cadet" tutorial, but the one that goes into details of mech piloting, tactics and formations, aiming, weapon synergy and proper mech building and so on and so forth. It also demands a proper matchmaker that actually does determine players skill and does balance matches as in put players of about-same skill in a same match, rather than as in balancing "average" team skill and thus dumping newbs and bads in the same teams with pros and solid players.

Either way, the entire thing requires effort. Effort from the players (which is lacking 95% of the time), and effort from PGI (which is lacking 100% of the time). So don't keep your hopes up.

also before you can get gud with assaults, first you have to suck with them. you cant just expect someone, even someone good on another class, to get into an assault and instantly do well the first time. there is a learning curve, especially when the tactics are completely different from every other mech class. there are things you have to learn to do that most other mech classes dont have to worry about, how to fight off lights, how to maneuver well enough to keep up with the team (that includes learning the maps), how to get into position, how to predict enemy movements well enough to plan your maneuvers in advance.

its a different animal and to get good you need practice. the best thing for new players is to play all the classes, that way when you do get gud, there is not one area that will lag behind and put you at a disadvantage. when you are good enough to need an assault for your drop deck in fp, will you know how to use it? you dont want to get to t2 and have your buttocks repeatedly handed to you because you didnt practice your assaults when you were in tier 4.

They should ban threads like this.

This is a team game which includes carrying the worst player in what could be the best mech to carrying the best player in the worst mech. So get over it and carry harder.

I will assume that either:

A ) You're simply trolling or
B ) You're new to MW:O and don't realize that noobs don't listen and are physically incapable of learning. That's why we call them "noobs" or "potatoes."

You call them names like Noobs or Potato because if you don't denigrate and disgrace them, that leaves only you and those like you as the Potatoes. Always good to have someone else to shat upon to make yourself think your superior... ;(

You seem to be describing "Assault" differently than what others would. Assaults are supposed to be the slow moving armored fortresses that break through stationary fortresses.

As an assault pilot, I can tell you that assaults, especially the biggest baddest ones, are ENTIRELY dependent on their team for their success. Assaults are the enemy's #1 priority, so if the heavies don't push with them they will be focused on and destroyed long before they can do significant damage. They are also vulnerable to backstabbing lights, and their size and lack of speed makes them suboptimal for trading at range. If you're tired of watching assaults getting killed early without making an impact, then stop hiding in the back and join the push!

Iz ofcourse against this outrageous idea. how will they learn to manage the heat if they dont bring enought weapons to explode on first push of a button without even actualy firing the weapons?

Lol. No.

Banning people from playing what they want to play is a terrible idea, particularly in a game like this where nostalgia and mech customization are a big part of the experience.

If you want better tutorials for assault mechs, sure. If you want lighter mechs to have more appeal to new players, that can be discussed. But simply banning people until they are "worthy?" Laughable - and I see plenty of non-assault pilots scrub out regularly in games, too, so this is just a silly argument.

Agreed. Sadly, in the fact-free nuthouse of the internet, everyone is supposed to be "banned from sucking" until they are magically good at everything, lest they sully some tryhard's enjoyment of stomping potatoes.

Oh GOD get over yourself!

Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to learn this game?! Especially if you've never played MW games before?

Remember that you were once new and green too.. don't judge, lest you, in turn be judged!

How about instead of whining about it, you grab that green pilot and TEACH him how to pilot assaults?

Bet you're a bit too self involved for that aren't ya?

it's cose' of winers like you that people don't stick with playing this game.. Bloody salt shaker.. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

P.S.

Here's an idea.. maybe.. follow that assault that's pushing? Instead of sniping from 1500m like a little surat?

Are they? The best MWO player in the world could be in tier 5 just because they don't like the game and do not play much.

Were they seeded into Tier 5 when PSR was implemented? If yes, then they weren't "the best MWO player in the world."

Did they join the game after PSR was implemented? If yes, then you should know that Tier 1 alt accounts typically move out of Tier 5 after their very first match. How exactly would "the best MWO player in the world" manage to stay in Tier 5 if it takes only a single good match to get advanced out?

Quote

Another reason why matching by using a leaderboard by chassis makes more sense. Because tier is basically an XP bar as it stands.

You complaining about mixing veterans with noobs but want a chassis leaderboard matchmaker? How does that work when a veteran player buys a brand new chassis and has literally no score on the leaderboard? Speaking of which, how exactly is position on your leaderboard determined? Which metric or metrics are you using?

An XP bar is fine for what we need. All the complaints about mixed Tiers in current QP matches is a symptom of small playerbase.
