its time to jump on the lemming train of the month and post the same post that has been posted many times before. omnipods. people say they are pay to win. i personally dont subscribe to this notion. i thought having 8 ballistics on my dire would make me some kind of monster but it just turned out to be an interesting novelty. the only mech i really feel is pay2win is the ctf-im. its the only is mech that can mount 3 ac10s (while clanners can have this loadout on many mechs), at least till the annihilator hits (unless its somehow possible to do it to a bushie). but thats not an omni so who cares.

cbills feels abit cheap though, like its saying you dont even need to pay in or at least rack up enough games so that whales have something to shoot at in order to have access to what is supposed to be exclusively paid content. mc makes more sense you can still gather it for free from various events, and it wont bust the bank to spend $7 on a block with your spare change.

so cost. looking at various mechs dividing the cbill cost by the mc cost seems to indicate that 1mc is ~2500 cbills. omnipods cost anywhere between 74191 and 222811 cbills. a rounded average is roughly 150000 cbills. so this average omnipod is only worth 60 mc, with 90 being the most expensive. this is too low frankly, you could buy all the omnipods for a single $7 block of mc where pgi would rather have you spend hundreds of bucks just to collect all the heroes. better numbers would be in the 150-300 range.

you still need to validate the hero though so just because you bought its omnipod, doesnt mean you can get a build with performance similar to the hero. quirks are how you do this. most of the mechs are going towards set of 8 quirks, we all hate them, but thats the way things are going. never should a hero omnipod grant a non set of 8 quirk. any additional quirks the hero may need should belong to the ct omni. so the hero will only grant the heros quirks. the omnipods are further devalued by the fact that only the hero comes with the cbill bonus. not to mention a nifty paint job. this way there is always a reason to buy the hero instead.

pgi should also make the heroes themselves more approachable monetarily. paywalling them behind a $20 mechpack, and then charging an additional fee for them is not really that great of a plan. i can usually afford the mechpack or the hero, but not both. i do like all the single one off heroes that have been coming out, heroes retroactively created for various mech packs that for some reason didnt have them. but i kind of think there needs to be a hero only option on the larger packs.

300 MC for a Hero omnipod is fine with me. On the cheap side, even, depending on the size of the mech. Perhaps 300-1500 MC per pod depending on mech weight? (regular Hero MC price which is 1500-7500 MC, divided by five pods that really matters--RA/LA/Head/RT/LT)

50MC is better than 300MC per pod.

I have a lot of mechs and I'd like a lot of them to have an omnipod from the hero, I don't want to spend 50$ to get them.

Make them cost ~1,000,000 cBills and it'll work itself out.

They need to be higher to not undercut hero sales. 20-25% of mech price seems like a good balance to me. 300MC is laughably cheap and PGI would be foolish to do it.

300mc is a fair amount may need the price increase base off the mech weight, lights maybe 215, 180? But no cbills for hero omnipods as it invalidates the point of hero omnis.

buying a pod should never undercut the hero. a hero is more than its pods, its also a fancy skin and a cbill bonus which are not intrinsic to the pods. any quirks the hero has should also be excluded. 300mc is a good place as its a pod or a mechbay, and as far as value goes, id drop that on the mech bay. still getting closer to 1k makes more financial sense for pgi though and thats still better than buying the entire hero mech. you might sell the omnipods in addition to the hero as players might want an extra set of pods for their other mechs while keeping the hero stock.

I've bought a lot of heroes primarily for their pods, I suspect others have too. At 300MC/pod, I'd buy a lot less at $15 (300MC is about $1-1.50)

i dissagree, 20% of a OmniHeros MC Cost? thats way way too much,
when considering for most OmniMechs a single Pod is only 5-6% of their total cost,
i say double that to 10-12% of the mechs MC Cost to be Fair,

this way a VPR Heros(3820MC) OmniPods would Cost 382MC,
a DWF Heros(8770MC) OmniPods would Cost 877MC,

Personally anymore than that and its not worth it,
giving people the Ability to Get HeroPods for MC would be good,
but it will have a negative affect if the Price is so much that it will be seen as useless,
remember you get a Hero for the Bonuses as well not just the Pods,

The point of Omni Heroes is to get a Cbill bonus on a mech, and support PGI

Not get superior performance.

I do like the 1/5th to 1/4th cost of the entire mech concept.

Why?

Because if there is only 1 unique Omnipod, then that Pod is the only source of unique combat value it brings to the table. The rest of the mech is just a standard chassis, a skin, and a C-Bill boost.

It could be something like, 5 x tonnage MC worth.

20t - 100
25t - 125
30t - 150
35t - 175
40t - 200
45t - 225
50t - 250
55t - 275
60t - 300
65t - 325
70t - 350
75t - 375
80t - 400
85t - 425
90t - 450
95t - 475
100t - 500

To put that into perspective, locust 1E costs, 1,491,242 CBill or 600 MC, so the rate is 2485.403333333333 CBill / MC, or 4.023491827617516e-4 MC/ Cbill. Each Dire Wolf Omnipod costs 438,120 CBills, and direct to MC conversion would be at 176.2772239515786 MC, or just 177 MC. Likewise the Mist Lynx pod at 150,885 CBills would be only at 60.70845644100689 MC or just 61 MC.

The rate i gave is around 2x - 3x that. So theoretically, it's still cheaper to buy Heroes as a whole, than individual omnipods.

Direwolf arms would cost 1000 MC a pair, that's literally just 7$ worth of MC, - 250 of excess MC. Compare that to the whole hero that costs 30$.

That's the cost i was thinking.

I agree, but we still need to throw a bone to PGI. It is after all, a business to them.

And if they continue this trend, they'll never get another cent from me
