I've had 2 matches with sub 20 damage because of this **** stain build coming up on me and basically one shotting me.

I respect the b33f because he's entertaining, but **** you dude for making this abomination.

Flamer Nova has been around since the Flamer buff.

Where have you been all this time?

BEFORE YOU CRY "OP NERF NOVA"

Shoot off the gun arm if you absolutely have to alpha. It doesn't have a lot of HP.

If you can, just kite the range.. locking on and knowing the loadout will save you the headache. It isn't effective past 99 meters with the flamers, and past 200m the lasers will tickle.

And lastly, it's your fault if you are seperated and isolated from your team, where no one can save you.

Anyone who has any sense should know by now that flamers can heat you up to 90% heat at the most to stop stun locking. For the people who dont know this or check their heat then decide to alpha all their weapons to shoot the mech in front of them and get shutdown for the next 20-30 seconds while those small pulse head shoot you, it is your fault.

Right the key is to just not panic and react accordingly. Shoot off the arm or chainfire, etc.

I'd like to just say the only thing this will accomplish is flamer ghost heat count of x. honestly this is lousy to complain about as if someone is using flamers, it's time to walk away or stay closer to others so they can help kill him.

and just for the record what I am defending is mwo and the build possibilities, not the beef or the build(but I do personally think it's fine). if I saw this in solo quickplay I'd personally take my cookie of a locust and leg that nova to help you lol.

Learn to manage your heat and you'll be fine. Don't alpha your weapons while he's flaming you, and don't get caught out of position from your team. Above all, don't panic.

Learn what 10% of your heatcap is

Use that

~3 isMLs (quirk dependant)
3 cSPLs
2 ERMLs
No PPCs

It's among one of those Git Gud things, seeing the limitations Flamers have, and how they honestly have a role in the game, instead of the 4 years they spent as a placeholder

Crap like this is why the player base is dropping.

But you still have super pilots claiming everything is fine.

Or if your bad at heat management (raises hand), just, ya know, don't fire. Instead run away, cool down and then kill it with low heat ballistics.

Trust me, I'm one of the worst players in this game (go ahead, check my stats). When it comes to flamers and the dreaded flammer nova, everything really is just fine.

It's an extremely niche build whose success or failure depends on its target making mistakes more than it does on the skill of its pilot. If it fails to overheat and headshot/backstab you quickly, then it is a comically oversized 50-tonner with all arm weapons in the middle of a bunch of heavy and assault 'Mechs.

Mistake 1: You and your team are not paying enough attention and allow a relatively slow medium to sneak into your backline.
Mistake 2: You do not ask for help on comms when you come under attack.
Mistake 2a: Alternately, your teammates don't respond to your request for assistance.
Mistake 2b: Or, worse, you've let yourself become isolated and are too far away for anyone to assist you.
Mistake 3: You allow the flamer-wielder to sucker you into shutting yourself down, which seals your fate.

That's how you get solo killed by flamer combos. If those mistakes don't get made, then flamer combos don't get kills. With 6 flamers running, exponential heatgen will force the flamer Nova to cease fire in a matter of seconds, and after that it's just a pathetically under-gunned laser brawler. Maintain good situational awareness, use comms, and don't alpha while being roasted.

here is how i deal with flamer spam:

upon encountering a flamer mech, immediately hit override.
fire an alpha into the section containing the flamer.
spam a cool shot.
if you are still alive fire another alpha into the same section.
fire another cool shot
fire a third alpha turn away and shut down until you are cool enough to fire again (if you did the first part right, he shouldnt be able to flame you at this point, otherwise skip this step).
if you are still alive start up and fire a fourth alpha.
if the mech in question is still alive, your loadout sucks.
if the mech dies and you are in poor health then fall in behind your team and play rear guard for the rest of the match.
otherwise continue play as normal.

in this case i think it is better to suicide if in doing so you take out the flamer spam bot. this spares the rest of your team the problem of dealing with it. if you see a flamer bot spamming a team mate, help him out, because if he dies, who is the flame bot going after next? you!

Exactly. There are many different strategies to counter flamers. Why this is being complained about so much is beyond me.

Edit: Also, I sincerely hope PGI doesn't listen to the complainers. I don't want flamers to be useless for another 4 years.

Comms, comms, comms.

Pay attention. Is the flamer's build balanced or asymmetrical? You should be with the team, unless you're scouting. If you're scouting, you're faster. Leave. If you're with the team, use comms: "Target Alpha Flame Nova, flamers right arm."

To be honest, I'll usually try to clip the laser arm first. Knock out the weapons, swarm him, then kill at your leisure.

What's worse: this, or the origin build of 12x SMPL which will two tap most rear armor builds? At least with the flamers you have a chance to fight back.

I tried Nova, didn't liked. It's slow for a medium.

Anyways have you even tried that flamer nova?

Just had a few matches against SPL+flamer nova's.

It's really annoying but easily countered by blowing off it's huge arm.

But for newer player, I'm so sorry for your bad match.

Just be glad flamers work only at 90m and the build in general is super short range, shorter than SRM brawlers.

Been running this build for a week lot's of fun. I like to pair up with a brawler build so we can focus our fire, I will stick by their side the whole match, and yes I'll take head shot's when I can but most of the time just helping my new buddies get kills, Two mechs on one works great and I have a light for the smokes afterwards it's awesome fun.
