Just wait until people start splitting the Flamers and cSPL such that each arm is 3+3 so you can't just gimp it by blowing a single side away.

My thoughts exactly.

6 LPL takes care of targets well before that range. Posted Image

I had someone with less than 6 flamers come and try to flame my LRM warhawk. I could have shot him a bit but I didn't want to risk overheating.

I just sat there patiently swinging my torso a bit unti someone else killed him, it takes suprrisingly long time even though we were many stacked up together and the enemy was alone. He didnt switch target when he surely realized I was not going to hit him, but then again if he would have switched, I would have shot him fast with my med pulse lasers.

So far that guy was the only one I've seen trying to use that many flamers. It was a Nova so I don't know what he had as loadout because he had maybe 3-4 flamers max.

NO we just have a lot of scrubs that cant use simple game mechanics.

That’s just brilliant!

Let’s insult all the noobs, and have ridiculous game mechanics, and OPed mechs dominating the battle field and drive all the new players away.

Only super pilots like you need to stay, I am sure that this game can survive indefinably without new players.

Dude, shut up. Heat management is not a "ridiculous mechanic" and flamers transferring heat to their target is nothing new. This has been part of mechwarrior and battletech since the beginning. I'm sorry if it's too hard for some sensitive little noodles out there to figure out but heat management simply cannot be removed from a mechwarrior game and if you can't manage heat then you should not play this game. You don't go into a donut shop and demand to be served steak. You go there for donuts. People who don't want donuts should go elsewhere. People who don't want to manage heat don't want mechwarrior and should go play something else. Plain and simple.

Crap like this is why the player base is dropping.

But you still have super pilots claiming everything is fine.

This is an accurate statement.

Seriously, people will leave rather than learn to deal with builds like the flamer Nova, if they are used to often

Sometimes the truth needs to hurt.

They need to hear it. When they're bad, they need to hear they're bad. Not sugar coated nonsense telling them they're right, it isn't okay, that the bad man touched them in the bad spot.

They need to know it isn't a problem. That they are the problem.

And once this happens...

The sun rises. They see the light. They're ready to...

You'll live longer and get more consistent kills with 12xcersl nova, but it's a fun gimmick mech for pug queue.

...can you really just troll people by posting a single Youtube video with a niche build in it?

I bought a Nova with SL/Flamer trolling in mind, and discovered though experience that it's retardedly easy to disable a Nova because it's ST and arms are giant bullet sponges without much armor. Someone being repeatedly owned by a troll nova is definitely doing it wrong.

B33F's video clearly outlines the strategy. Understand it and react accordingly.

The great thing about the video is that it both outlines the strategy AND shows its counters. Don't fire and overheat if you've been caught by the flamers and if you can, take out the SPL arm before you're in a position to be overheated. In fact I think it may be a good thing for a new player - it'll teach them to speak up because this is a team game. I have no problem coming to the rescue of a teammate who can't fire back if I have the tools to help, be it from flamers (by killing the mech with the flamers) or a short range brawler caught out in the open and being pelted with LRMs (if I have ECM and/or AMS to help mitigate damage). I just have to know they need help.

Once one arm is gone the build is pretty ineffective regardless of where the weapons are mounted, though taking out the flamer arm still leaves an adequate alpha to play the rest of the game 'normally'. losing three SPLs means you're going to have to either quickly fire off a headshot and hope that the mech stays overheated for over three more seconds for another headshot, or you're going to have to overheat him twice.

flamers have an incredibly short range...it may seem very annoying when it happens to you, but most of every match the build is neutered because of range.

I've been using flamers and MG since I started playing this game.

Know the one thing that hasn't changed through all the patches and buffs and nerfs to these almost completely neglected weapons?

I never stopped using them. Regardless of how bad they sucked, or were suddenly OP or trendy...

The Nova is more dangerous when It's not in troll mode... curiously none of the people ive seen with that build have even gotten into range... uses comms and stick with the group
