'Straya here, My old M17x Alienware laptop is pretty dusty and i MWO is a real challenge to play on it. I usually manage 10-15 FPS or less and frankly i am astonished i even managed to get the King Crab at all.
Issue is i have incredibly limited internet over here in the outback and run off a real expensive Wifi (Waiting and hoping they finally install a cable) So re-installing isn't an option.
I'd real appreciate any assistance because frankly i am at the end of my tether
Any pointers?
Cheers

Make sure your Laptop has a processor:
BIOS: A09
Processor: n/a
Memory: 16264MB RAM
And see to it, that it uses your Radeon 7970M instead of the Intel Graphics.

1. Control Panel- Power Options - Set to High Performance - AC connected (no battery)
2. Can of compressed air - blow out and consider replacement thermal compound on heatsinks
https://www.techinfe...cpu-on-m17x-r2/
3. Biggest part - create user.cfg in MWO folder, have at least sys_MaxFPS = 30 Idea is not to try to run at max FPS which then can cause a yo-yo effect for when Turbo boost kicks in, giving more power (and generating more heat) to 1 core, which then surpasses thermal threshold and drops CPU speed below normal.
4. A cooling pad/device to help blow/draw heat air away from laptop.
Edit
May need to reinstall AMD GPU drivers.

Thanks, I'll start trying these out and it should turn out pretty swell.
And you mention user.cfg in MWO? So it must be created or does it exist already in the files?

The user.cfg has to be created.
And to add to Carsten's post, you need to update or rerun the chipset driver for your system.
http://www.dell.com/...rivers/advanced
Edit - just to also add. Are you playing MWO with the standalone or via Steam? I saw where some people were having issues having their games recognizing the AMD GPU so had selected Intel GPU (built-into the GPU) Below is directions to manually switch between Intel HD Graphics and the AMD Discrete GPU.
http://www.dell.com/...card-s-?lang=EN
And always play MWO with AC Adapter plugged in
