What is meant by the video...
Twist if you want to live.
At 40 to 50 seconds, when the Kodiak bursts from its entrenched position and as the Mad Dog fires upon it, the Kodiak begins to torso twist and flail its arms to soak up any incoming damage...preventing the enemy from concentrating fire on vital sections. It then followed by firing a salvo of missiles.
The jump.... don't bother jumping on mechs in MWO, you'll hurt yourself and they will laugh. But the rest, definitely do.

Kodiaks don't twist. Ironically, the KDK-3 dakka bear a.k.a. the stare bear got nerfed by reducing the torso twist. Obviously those kdk variants who actually had to twist like the spirit bear took the blow instead.
tl,dr: kdk usually wins with pure firepower.

It's intended for the mechs that can.
For those that can't, that's why PGI shoves on the quirks.
