Been looking at mechs and this fellow caught my eye. High mounts and a mech size that I don't own much or any of yet. It looks interesting to say the least. Yes its an inner Sphere tech but new stuff is on the horizon.
No quirks yet but. If I said RoughNeck. What would be your first thoughts, response?

IS 65 tonner so comparable to jager or thunderbolt or catapult. Same crappy 315 engine cap as most of them. Would have been nice had the hero gotten a higher cap just as Firebrand and Jester do. The 2A has definite zombie fighter potential with 1 head and 2 CT energy hardpoints. Lose both shoulders and a leg and keep shooting.

RGH-3A might entirely replace the still used Quickdraw-5K, but replacing Quickdraw is not hard to do in the first place. Roughneck is not a bad mech. Just nothing extraordinary. Quirks will tell.

The roughneck has stupid high secondary mounts. PGI needs to stop this absurd meta arms race extreme high mounts. OTher than that I think the roughneck looks pretty cool.

What's important is putting "Leg Day" on with decals.

It isn't canon, so I won't touch it.

Also, this isn't the Dark Age, so repurposed non-combat mechs shouldn't see active combat duty.

Should be decent, quirks will tell all.

There are some really nice ballistic/missile brawling options available.

2 AC10s and 3ML also looks pretty solid on the -2A.

Laser vomit options on the -3A.

Gauss + lasers/PPCs on the Hero.

I'm looking forward to it, also partly because its been over a year since a new IS heavy dropped.

Except it is canon, for the same reason the Mauler is canon.

Tons of mechs were built on a platform that originated as industrial mechs, especially on Solaris.

It has a better lore backstory than most the mechs in the 3058 TRO.

The Force Awakens isn't "Canon" but I still watched it.

'cept she was cannon by Randal Bills himself, the guy whom is the head of Catalyst Game Labs Battletech... Hell he's been part of Battletech since the 80's.... So the argument that it's not canon is out.

My guess for quirks. Structure across the board. Probably like 10. With a variant having 15 to keep it different. Weapon quirks will be 10% at max. With the possibility of 5% for specific weapons to keep things interesting. They'll probably try to give each one different performance quirks. They might go the route of no structure on a variant, but twice as much performance. Or they could just be lazy and give it similar low percentage quirks across all variants.

Would you be more likely to try it out after it appears in a BattleTech Experimental Technical Readout pdf?

Roughneck > Mauler. Better design, better visuals, better concept/history.

Pulled the trigger and got the basic pack before preorder bonuses deadline. Those bonuses were what made it worth it to me. Plus the extra 25 grab bag pulls for the event that was running that month.

I'll have to see what the stats are before I decide to run them. Torso twist range most of all. I seriously doubt it is going to get any quirks, considering we were supposed to be on the new skill tree per their original plan. If the stats turn out to be lousy, I'll probably just run them all one time during the leaderboard event to get an idea how good sales were. Then shelve them until the new tech arrives.

Its sexy, so I'll probably get one, but I'm waiting on the quirks. And waiting on the new weapons. I'm seeing a 2A with AC/10, MRM 30, and 3 ML using a 280 light fusion engine and light ferro fibrous. And I'm salivating.

Yes you can hand over money and things get instantly canonised. For mechs like the Dragon Slayer, it sat for years in limbo, the lobbiests being ignored, it's only just been updated in sarna.
