title kinda says it all, I was reading the roadmap post https://mwomercs.com...pril-may-beyond

Does this mean we are getting lobby/mechlab global chat? If so this could be wonderful.. I know i've been saying for years this game needs a global chat and lobby system, along with a way to make chat rooms.

Outside of it nice seeing quickdraw and victor getting some love, and new game mode.. New weapons.. and tweaks to alpine dom, yippy! the other thing that caught my eye was New maps!

Boy it seams like this summer could be as epic as clan invasion. I know i've been getting cranky at seeing things pushed back, but with this list i am back to being rather excited. I'll hold off till patch day to play to amp up further.. :)

Make sure that when you look at the list you add a month or 2 onto any release date.

Yeah, especially if the community decides to mess the bed like they always do whenever they try to change something : /

Global chat wouldn't whip out any big shitstorms, so it will be fine. Unless PGI goofs up on coding department.

Sadly that is entirely a possibility with PGI. So perhaps I was too hasty in my comment.. >.>

The only shitstorms global chat would bring would be started by players themselves IN the chat, which considering this was one of the things i've enjoyed from APB's Social District... no complaints!

Your AFK Veteran awaits this change.

especially when PGI puts out 1/4 finished products that make it worse than it already is... even May is scaring me that it is coming back cause I think the massive systemic problems the Skill Maze suffered from are still going to be there, but the spec cost will be lower and everyone will complacently accept it while the white knights will cheer it on no matter how horrific it is.

You act like it's a dumpster fire. But mostly it's just nit picking in my opinion. Too many buttons? Don't like 'wasting' points on 'useless' skills? Which part was soooo bad that it's better we stick with our current system?

UI is far from being in proper place. There are bugs and things that shouldnt really be there any more in any title in 2017.

Floating chat is waaay overdue. But..... better late than never eh?

it will just be the in game chat.

Expanded to be accessible everywhere.

You'll get target spotted spam while in mechlab, in games with completely different players, in a completely different game mode. The chaos will be hilarious.

That said, while it's a step in the right direction to promote player interaction in an mmo (because seriously), I can't say i'm super excited to see "git gud" and "lawltato" globally (as opposed to when I come to the forums).

I mean really, at least the forums make you log in to post random nonsense and hatred, thereby reducing the amount that gets through.

edit: for example, this post.

If you think that the global chat will be a friendly, helpful, interesting place, you've never played a game with a global chat lobby.

On the bright side I doubt it'll get anywhere near as bad as, say, global in a WarGame title.

Well there has been what, 3 "fixes" to the friends list not updating.

And...

It still doesn't update properly. Goof is almost certain.

FTFY.

I actually thought that, with the addition of some quality of life stuff like drag to select nodes / a select all nodes in tree button it was pretty good. I ended up with noticably different builds for basically every mech i set up (and i min max hard), so that was promising, and i didnt find that boats ended up being boosted more than 2 weapon builds.

They goofed on the faction global chat but on purpose as a spam prevention measure. I type and reply or correct typo fast and the system likes to put me in timeout because spam. its really stupid how fast it mutes you for 5 or 10 min i dont remember. A chat system need spam prevention but if it cant differentiate spam from normal typing its more than useless it's detrimental.

global general chat is something that should have been here since closed beta, this is a welcome and long over due addition.

Warframe actually has a generally good global chat experience. Then again they will ban you from using global chat if you do something stupid.

actually i played many.. City of heroes and Starwars galaxies for years.. They both had great systems, but CoH was even better with a very easy to use. AND moderate public, but privately made chat channels. Meaning you can search the channel and join it, but it had hand picked moderators.

This means that you could make a Public guild channel that anyone could join, but if people started trolling it, or abusing others you could ban them. Worked very, very well.

Sure, sometimes a general chat channel can be abusive spam, but typically i have found them pretty decent, even if it is just to direct me to someplace i can actually talk to someone. I just hope they have some selected channels, by default. looking for group, or maybe a CW channel. A Ask any question channel, and new player help would be fantastic as well. Are you a noobie in the mech lab and can't figure out why your mech won't save, or maybe what Fero does, Don't make a post, ask in mech help and see if anyone is lurking.
