With the recent announcement we'll be getting new map(s)--at least at some point in the next 3 months--it finally encouraged me to post something I noticed a few days ago.
The background of the new Clan Heroes II 'Mechs doesn't seem familiar to me. It could be Forest Colony...but it looks so beach-y. Maybe I'm seeing things familiar in a different light (if it's Forest Colony, it seems awful bright), but this suddenly seemed off to me one day when I visited the site an saw the marquee scrolling by.
Thoughts, opinions?

It's just Forest Colony beach. Fiddle with color setting in photo editor, and voila.

frankly that water is a terrible basis for a new map, the number of performance issues it causes. i have a strong hunch that its responsible for most of the crashes on that map.

It's River city, G line, all the way past the buildings..
As far as new maps go..
I really hope they do a full city/metropolitan map, a full forest map (dense extremely high trees), an underwater map, a cave/underground map, a fully alien-environment map ( like a mushroom forest, alien-looking pyramids or ruins), and some normal temperate grassy plains / farms..

We are not getting one in the next three months....they put it in the "Looking Ahead" section. Which translates to they are just starting to think about it and it has no definable timeline.
Don't get your hopes up.
What I would like to see as far as maps: 1) Like everyone, a high density city 2)Moon or large Asteroid 3) A good large swamp (not like bog - but large, high water, chance of getting stuck in muck for a short time, poor visibility etc)

G5, G6, F7 on Crimson strait would be nice addition.
As approaching the saddle/platform from G3 drop zones you can see the rise over the hills. Fill out the geometry somewhat and the map suddenly has 3 main lanes, not just brawls in the tunnel and on the platform.
Not a while new map, but an easy expansion to an existing.

The "new" map may be a QP version of a tile set of a FW only map that doesn't have a QP equivalent.
