Don't just join any unit. Play with the people before you join. There are a few things you should really look for.
One of them being "does the unit play when i play" You need to get a unit in your time zone.
Next one would be what type of unit do you want. They come in all types from casual to "must be at practice X times a week".
Lastly you got to make sure you get along with everyone
If i was you i would join onto the davion TS server. Start playing with people on there. Just join one of the rooms and ask for an invite when the game is over.
