How come custom paint jobs are only lock to one mech? Example, I love the paint job one the Kodiak-1(S), I would totally hash out the money for the mech if it unlocked the paint job so i could put it on my other Kodiaks. However I cant, but why? whats the point?

$
The special skins have always been tied to the CB bonus mechs. Extra motivation to get them.

Totally understand that point, and i would buy it for the paint job. But like the example above that mech is one of the worst of the kodiaks, yet has one of the best skins in game. Plus its not even available for Cbills, or MC, so idk sounds like bad marketing.

Mixed, for sure. I agree in this particular case. I adore the skin, but the KDK-1 is crap. I'm glad I spotted it advance and saved myself $20. It's why I basically never buy collector's unless I'm sure until after they're released.

you know, i have thought that if you own said mech, the paint should be added to use on the other variants as well.
That would be a good amount of work though so besides keeping one mech unique, it does have a $$ reason as well.

If you are going to throw down real money on a Kodiak then I recommend the Spirit Bear (it also has a snazzy paint job)... so much fun once you get to into brawling range. Not much use prior to that but man is it fun inside that range.

I think it's a bit tecnical too reason too, I think the way PGI /this engine does those, they have to manually do some of that art, not just a color or texture they can splash over an object.
