The award for the mech with the highest hardpoints to cockpit level in game goes to....

dun dun dun.... an IS mech.

edit - The extremely high hardpoints on the roughneck are atypical of an IS mech, considering as of late, that niche has been ruled by Clan mechs. So ya, I would call it ironic because that has been kind of a hot button issue because of mechs such as the HunchbackIIC, NightGyr, and Kodiak of course.

You do realize high hard points alone don't make a mech meta or strong right? Otherwise we'd see more Jeagermechs, etc

Irony...you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. That and don't get into a land war in Asia.

That's great and all but can the IS get CXL, though?

Maybe the original announcement of the new one was regarded as being a bad robot, because of the low arms

But, 4 high mounted LPLs is never exactly bad...so, it will turn out more effective than initially thought.
So, not quite irony...but a M. Night Shyamalan twist

Ok... so it will be a worse Battlemaster. How does that help compared to the Madcat Mk II which looks like it will bypass the MRD-IIC to fit nicely under the KDK-3 as the best mech in the game??? While the only IS mech that can carry 3 or more big ballistics is hamstrung into laser vomit to be viable... #BALANCED

Technically OP is correct. Archer is generally a bad mech though.

If it runs IS XL, it's dead sooner or later.

Outside of IS Lights, the Grasshopper-5P is like one of the few used comp level mechs that gets some attention. This and the few bits of IS Mediums (Shadowhawk, Griffin SRM brawler) and you realize Clans have it super good, despite the Clan apologists.

OK, I was confused because people were citing/comparing X mech to Assault mechs.

My assessment:

It's 65 Tons, has to use heavier IS equipment - bulkier IS XL and has a max 315 engine.

It will be probably be a slightly better Jagermech, and will probably be overall "good" - but this mech is not going to move the needle on the current hierarchy of heavies near the top.

Looks like it will be fun to play.

And the 5P has to waste at least 1 ton on 2x Small lasers to prop its bigger weapons into the actually useful mounts.

Well, some people like propping the Kodiak-3's dakka mounts to move the Gauss up further.

That's true, but that's only 0.5 ton to a Kodiak and 1 ton to a Grasshopper and they two pretty different things.

The KDK takes those two throw away MGs and still has plenty of space for 2x Gauss, 2x CERPPCs, ammo to spare, 17+ DHS & a 375 XL.

EDIT: Fixed mistake on tonnage costs thanks to Lykaon.

More then likely sooner because the ST's with weapons in them have HUGE hit boxes.

I'm confused, did he just give an award for "highest hardpoints to cockpit level in game" to a mech that's not curently in the game?

Ya I did, it's going to be in the game in 4 days, and it will in effect have the highest relative hardpoints in the game. It's going to be a great mech
