Hi there,
Haven't played in about a year and a half (Shadowcats and Arctic Cheetahs had just come out I think)...
Been playing catch up with videos on Youtube and forum posts but was wondering if someone could give me a shortlist of major changes/current meta.
Thanks!

I cannot speak to Meta, but as for major changes sorry it will not be a short list;
2 new game modes for quickplay group and solo queue;
Domination (stand in a big circle for a minute while no enemies are in the circle or shooting you and win)
Escort, protect/kill a VIP Atlas which seems to have down engined and decided to take extra armor instead of guns, when it extracts you win/loose depending on if attacking or defending
a third new game mode coming on Tuesday, Incursion, each team has a propper base with turrets, walls and support equipment, win condition is destroy the enemy base, if you get "power cells" you can bring some special abilities online for the base, including(if I remember correctly) calling in a dropship to hit the enemy, getting a sensor jammer which sounds like it will cover half the map, and a powerful sensor which pings the location of all enemies every few seconds
most of the maps have been updated in some way;
almost all of them include some destructable stuff including, trees, statues, lamp posts
some were completely redesigned (Terra Therma) or substantaly enlarged (River City, Forrest Colony, Frozen City)
2 new maps, Polar Highlands, Grim Plexus
lots of new Mechs
patches now happen once a month
Decals are now available, sheck in the Mechlabs camo spec tab
I am not sure if VOIP is that old or not, but now there is ingame VOIP voice chat
there is also a command wheel which allows you to put a marker on the map asking prople to move to a location ect, as well as notify people that you have seen an enemy, of course if you have it is far more useful to speak up in VOIP and say "I have seen 8 Mechs in Charlie 5", than just have something pop up on the map telling the rest of the team there is 1 Mech there
lots of weapon balencing and quirk changes
about 20 new Mechs
Faction play has had a few major overhauls, including the addition of a 4v4 scouting mode where your team has to capture 11 points, when that happens a dropship is called in, the "attackers" win if 1 of them suvives with at least 1 point, also the regular maps and modes have been added so each turn there are phases of Assualt, Domination, Conquest, Skirmish and Escort mode
new skill tree probably coming in May, will roll the modules into the Mech skill tree, all non consumable Modules will be removed, the requirement to level 3 Mechs to master 1 will be removed, you can unlock 91 nodes from about 1,000 possible skills, there will likely be another public test for this soon to test out the latest updates (it was origionaly intended for Feburary but has already been pushed back twice)
the Civil War update is coming soon including a lot of new tech and weapons
