Lights do not have "Backup lasers". Of course a light going into an enemy base is suicide because those turrets are murder.

Indeed, by choosing to run a small pulse locust i also choose not to be able to destroy the base. Similar, if you choose to run easy mode guided missile boats you also choose not to be able to destroy the base. If you want to be able to drop the base, don't boat guided missiles.. on those, at least you have the tonnage to bring backup or alternative weapons.

Wouldn't an alternative method be to change the terrain around the base objectives to provide cover to LRMs fired outside of the base? So, you would have to be inside the base in order for the path of LRMs to not be obstructed by cover?

Obviously that's something PGI chose not to implement. You can tweet to Russ about it.

LRMs can be used to destroy the base using dumb fire.

The best part about this is that LRMs can be easily dumbfired if you have LOS on a stationary target like a building. But SSRMs cannot be dumbfired at all.

Because people exploited lock mechanism by having someone to spot for them and spammed LRMs on the buildings from far away. PGI thus took away locks. Just equip some backup lasers.

so? why isn't this fixed like in Invasion wher egens have roofs to make lrm spam impossible? just give the buildings a specific place they need to be hit at an stuff works.
