It was super easy to kill the base with lrms before the change. Even with turrets shooting for the head lol

This is not it dude. Theres zip reason they shouldnt be able to do it. Zero. After all, these mechs are crippled enough in mech to mech combat, might aswell allow them to lock onto buildings.

PGI wishes to prevent people to cheese the buildings using a spotter and LRM boats. Since LRMs and SSRMs share the exact same targeting codes, preventing LRMs from locking on = preventing SSRMs from locking, as well. That just how it is. PGI is certainly not gonna make separate targeting coding for SSRMs.

I mean, PGI have already placed two FOB's within 1km of eachother, where 100ton battlemechs are refuelled and re-armed.
It feels like trench warfare where you're within enough distance to throw notes at the enemy.
It's pretty dumb really, and the fact that the code can't distinguish between streaks and LRMs is just laughable.
if preventing people from 'cheezing' by using a spotter (aka employing a role function to light/medium mechs) then consider using ECM shielding within the base which blankets the MFBs.

Just have a couple of lasers as backup. Problem solved.

That is the official statement? You got a link? Just asking cause if so, that would be really dumb. After all, we are playing a thinking mans shooter and preventing a viable tactic would be... dumb.

Where were you when all those complaint posts popped up in the forums regarding how easily people cheesed base gens using LRMs in the Incursion PTS? PGI took notice of those and made changes accordingly after PTS closed.
Such tactic was certainly not fun or interactive, cause base gens can't move away behind cover, unlike mechs.

There is no excuse for bad coding.

Years ago, when people figured out that Streaks also benefit from the Artemis code, PGI said that they can't separate the locking codes, of Streaks and LRMs.

My jenner don't got none...
aint got no weight for that on certain builds too.
Also ammo / component destruction can render a mech useless despite still being armed.
There's not excuse for bad game design given the circumstances here as i see...
Those MFBs are generating a whole lot of EM/heat. Streaks should have no problem.
