@ Galvatron, I miss the point here. You have shown us the diagram of how the buffering works, how "pages" are switched into the video (screen) memory (registers directly involved with the display of the picture). It doesn't explain what's wrong with my settings. Buffering introduces lag, as more frames are rendered into it, before they get displayed, you you see actions from 2-3 frames behind, not the latest ones (depending on the mode of the buffering). Although frames appear fluid, you still have lag and a feeling of slow performance.

@Vxheous Kerensky, you might be right, but on the other hand - I've never seen AMD's "forced" vsync woring in a SINGLE game, I can try turning it on as much as I like, leaving it off in the game, it won't force the game to vsync, unlike nVidia, which was working and which was really enforcing the vSync, I was doing exactly that for the old NFS game. It makes sense what you are saying, except AMD will never make forced vsync to work.
Also - I have "off unless application states otherwise, always off, always on and on unless application states otherwise" options, so as you can see - there are 2 modes for letting the app control it, unlike the nVidia, which has the "let the application decides" like you said.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Everything was explained already, just follow the links.

Sorry, but I don't feel like digging through the 10 years old topics. It seems to me that you're just trolling.

Programmer's duty is to prevent unforeseen circumstances, as much as he can - for example - dragging a window outside of the screen with the mouse pointer - if the programmer doesn't limit the window, it can be dragged behind the visible area, without means to drag it back. So the programmer needs to limit it's area of moving

If the driver / settings / whatever / makes the game defaults to half-refresh VSYNC, it's programmer's mistake not to insert a setting in the menu (like some other games) which you can set to "compensate" the driver. It was just a suggestion anyway

I do not know what am I talking about ? I do know, but I guess you do not. I simply pointed out what happens with a FRESH installation in a FRESH computer, and hoped that someone who does the development will maybe read it and put that one line of code for the players to choose what kind of VSYNC would they want.

Also I really do not have the slightest idea what that buffering has to do with frame rate drop and whatever you are trying to say. So if you do not have anything meaningful to say, better stay away. Don't troll

I have a 1080 and turned of all the eye candy but also V-sync because the tearing was completely unplayable.

When the game tried to render foliage, it always suddently dropped hard to 30fps or back up to 60fps, nothing ever inbetween.

This was purely a v-sync issue. Upgrading the graphics driver seems to have stopped this but it was making sniping impossible (incase a bush was present).

Try turning off all cases of v-sync and ensuing you are on the latest drivers. Also when upgrading drives DO A COMPLETE RIP. Googling this procedure will help a lot. I had random blue screens on windows boot and it turned out to be the graphics driver. A normal upgrade to latest version didnt fix it, a clean rip did.

@The Unstoppable

Ok, can you do me a favor?

1. Make a user.txt file, put a single line in it with Max_FPS = 60 and rename it to user.cfg, copy it to the C:\(your install path)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\

2. Go to nVidia control panel and search for the "vsync" setting and set it to "use the 3D application settings"

3. Turn on all the eye candy and vsync in the game

4. Post about what happened.

Thanks in advance

Buffering is your problem, solution most likely in drivers. Been stated above, you just had to read.

No thanks.

To the OP; initially you were complaining about the game throttling your computer at 30 fps, and to back up your claim you pointed out that you had an entry in your cfg file stating that. Just so you know, I have never done anything with a cfg file, or created one for that matter, and my game runs great at between 80 and 120 fps. I have V-sync turned off and most settings at medium one or two on high and a few on low. Game looks great. So, why would anyone take your suggestion? To prove your point? I don't think so.

You may have a fresh install, but if something is limiting your fps, it's NOT the game, it's either your graphics driver or your USER SELECTED settings. So, check for an update to your graphics driver, turn off V-sync, turn all settings to low and slowly turn them up to see how it effects your FPS and enjoy playable games while you do it, or turn on V-sync and all settings to high and slowly turn them down one at a time and enjoy your horrid fps until the problem sorts itself out. The choice is yours.

So you are suggesting me NOT TO USE max settings and to TURN OFF VSYNC to get the game running > 60HZ ?! I have FRIKKIN perfect gameplay with SYNCED frames NAILED to 60HZ, just by adding MAX_FRAMES = 60 in USER.CFG I have made. Sheesh... This post is not real. You haven't said that mailin, please tell me you were joking Posted Image

BTW I admit I wrote a messy first post, making people confused. English is not my native. Please read through the rest of the messages to understand what I am complaining about... There is no other explanation for replies like this one, it must be that...

Can confirm one line of code made the game run far better on my computer.

Max_FPS = 60

User.cfg = no more 10-30 fps drops
