I think they're figuring out how to get people on PTS slowly...

Now they just need to incentivize getting on the PTS for the real hard cases XD

Perhaps.

Alas, this is kind of a bad example for them to finally be getting the idea that if they want folks on the PTS they shouldn't run an event on the live servers simultaneously.

In this PTS there is hardly any game play changes of note to actually test. All the significant changes are readily apparent in the mechlab. Since the mechanics being changed are nearly identical (some minor additional nerfs changes, I think a few decoupling base changes (I could be wrong)) to the last PTS, even those of us who usually make a point of participating are not really making much effort on this PTS.

Oh well.

they usually do about 2 events per patch cycle. one is always the event after the patch for the current mech pack and a small event for everyone. then they usually have one closer to patch day. and the usual week long holiday events. they just grew a brain and scheduled the pts between the events.

and yet, people still did not play, and getting matches took forever... PGI's fault right? (outside of people using the group drop tools and setting up their own matches)

After how much some people freaked out about the last one I wouldn't be crazy about working hard to set one up too.

So much for the "PGI is learning" theory. PTS just went offline. It's on the front page.

So trying out changes isn't enough for the MWO community?

....Hmm i wonder what makes them so different to other gaming communities. Games like World of Tanks releases a PTS and it's swarmed.....again what makes this game and it's community different.

Outside of checking out the UI and seeing what you may be getting refunded, there is little use to playing matches outside of private matches. Unless your playing 12v12, there isn't a great deal to be learned about the tree that you can't learn running around in the proving grounds.

im sure pgi got the data it needed. they dont need the entire player base to switch over to the pts for the duration. its not about fun, its a test.

Or they could run an event on the PTS and post the rewards on the "live" account?

they could also give your main account any cbills you earn on the PTS

that would be a good start
