Yeh I am usually pretty good with it, but I think I was feeling a bit off already, and the motion distortion just sent me over. Being a passenger and the pilot flying about like a maniac didn't help any for sure. I think the lack of control over the motion adds to it.

I've noticed that for me games where you're sitting in a cockpit in 1st person view don't make me sick at all. I'm wondering if the addition of a fairly static bit of screen realestate for the eyes to "focus" on, like cockpit graphics, somehow helps mitigate whatever it is that causes the motion sickness.

Should note that sensitivity to motion sickness or epileptic seizures from strobe lights vary from people to people, like allergies. It doesn't affect everyone, and it doesn't affect equally, but there are some people who will.

My wife vomits if she watched more than a few minutes of ANY first person shooter.

Dunno why you'd be ashamed of your misses making sexy sounds, heaps of men would be jealous.

Ive never had a upset stomach causing dihorrea(omg spelling) for more than 48 hours before till right now, i'm at 72 hours, you wouldnt wish this on your enemy, and its not fun trying to play occasional game with it after yesterdays new memory you dont want to know ill let you imaginations think of much worse =p . Im watching TV which is much easier to pause and leave...

I'm the same with motion sickness and First Person Shooter games ... except Unreal Tournament !

I found why, at least in my case, after testing lots of things :

In most FPS, you have a gun in the lower middle of your screen that bounces left to right, while the motion of moving around bounces the rest of the screen right to left ... those two motions combined make me seasick after 5 mins ...

But in Unreal Tournamanet, the gun is fixed, doesn't move. I can play that game for hours on end.

I have chronic pain in my lower back and hands. I also suffer from migraines induced by eye strain.

All that mean that I can play for an hour or two before I have to wrap my hands in warm bandages and kill the lights to rest my eyes.

Quite hard to play when you see spots of light and your fingers tremble ...

After years of having these conditions, you learn to live (survive ?) with pain ... it's never easy, and most of the time I'm buzzed on painkillers, but it's mostly manageable.

But on bad days, I'm bed ridden and moaning.

I'm broadly the same--hands and back trouble. Not nearly as bad as yours, but there are those days when I squeeze that extra game in even though it means disaster for my back the next few days.

Omfg, so now p-u-k-e is a bad word? What is it, kindergarden forum?

Huh. I'd assumed you'd just misspelled "sick" by striking "d" instead of "s."

Anecdotally - many of the women and girls in my life (going back to my '90's childhood) have gotten motion sick watching FPS.

But I've never really heard this from my male friends/relatives. Is it something biologically gender-related, or is it just that guys like video games so much they force themselves to acclimate?

I was playing with one eye for two weeks. Not sure why I went blind in one eye instantly while outside my place but I got good at playing with an eye patch. Going on 3 weeks later and most of my vision has returned. There was no redness or any sign other than my iris in one eye was open more than the other, I think because it was blinded it had no reason to close fully. Not a complete blindness just various areas blinded, but same result., was a weird light show in one eye, like seeing a camera flash that didn't go away.

So ya I am happy because it is sort of a mystery(yes went to emergency and then eye doctor, they didn't say anything really just took tests etc) and now I am nearly fully healed and know what its like to play with a physical difficulty now.

Ummm.........there can be some pretty serious underlying reasons for sudden loss of vision. I hope you have been checked out thoroughly.

Hearing stuff like this that isn't followed up well makes me appreciate the Canadian Medical system, even with it's warts.

I'm high when I play most the time, if that counts?

Get better scores when I'm not.

I broke my arm this last December, just in time for Escort mode. So I got to stick my mech in a slow tromp next to the VIP and just play a railed shooter. I love escort mode for that. That and it actually forces my teammates to move up some.

Got to get back to basics during that time, rebound my extra mouse buttons so I could just tromp around with the mouse. Good times.

Slight tangent, but to help other people understand ...

That pain in your arm when you broke it ? And when you moved a bit before getting a cast ?

*THAT* is the amount of pain I have to endure 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, for more than 20 years now ...

I know, I broke several limbs too (even some with bits of bone protruding from my arms).

BUT ...

The pain from a migraine is worse than that. And it's relentless, every heart beat is another hammer strike, for hours, days, sometimes weeks on end.

I'm a vindicative spiteful being with my enemies ... but I *DON'T* wish they get a migraine.

We've all done it before. I am even now. I got some kind of flu that's making me cough.... not fun, but also hilarious when making calls.

"Hey he's over in-" * COUGH COUGH COUGH* "G3".

Anyone willing to share those most memorable or easily remembered moments of such?

TBH, I have only tried playing while sick a couple times. Usually if I have anything "wrong" I'm just not in the mood to play, but doubly, not in the mood to play "socially".

Tea. Soup. Netflix.

No games, lol. Though there was that time that the first stages of food poisoning struck while in mid match.... "Hey Bishop, give me some fire support on Delta.... Bishop? BISHOP? Hey guys...why is Bishop's mech running in circles....... "

Needless to say I had a sudden and unstoppable urge forcing me to hit eject that match......

Worst I have had is sneeze firing weapons, I have powerful sneezes, and over heating due to it. Thankfully didn't hit a friendly but, there was that moment of "ugh, okay, I think I am done for today" afterwards. Only other time was having a nasty cough fit that made me lose focus that I ran off a cliff on forest colony into that north bay that nobody ever uses outside of incursion, my poor legs.

Mostly though, I was raised that when you are sick you should be miserable and do nothing so I don't play while sick and instead just lay about so I rarely play while sick.

Once while I was making drop calls, my wife leaned over to the mic and moaned sexily. Almost strangled her out of shame.

You're supposed to drop everything and do it in your mech's cockpit. That's how real MechWarriors do it.

I have a button near my thumb on my Nostromo bound to alpha strike.

Every once in awhile I'll have a powerful sneeze cause me to bump it, and one time I alpha'd a teammate in the back with 2x lb10x AC and 3x SRM6. Instant loss of rear armor and reddened CT. I apologized.

I get tripped up when I'm dipping(chewing tobacco) and need to spit, but need to call out positions...I sound ******** because I prioritize calling out the positions instead of spitting to talk first...then i sound retardo.

I nearly saw of my left pinkie cutting a body blank for a guitar I was rebuilding.
Bloody mess it was with 42 stitches to sew it back on and repair the bones.
Two day later in a hand cast I was playing and trying to drop call.
My wife would on shake her head and walk away.
Not wife below but close enuff.
