What are you smoking ? 2c is losing 10% energy range.

yaw, acceleration and deceleration dont look like they're transferring over too? Just compare it to the one above and below.

Anything that didn't have big quirks for a main weapon system. Take the Marauder 3R with the 2 LB-X loadout. Before it didn't have any cooldown or spread quirks. Now, it will be tanker, faster firing, cooler running, and have better spread.

Who **** wants to run 2 LB-Xs on a 3R?

Has anyone else considered that the Clans targeting computers cost the Clans tonnage and slots to increase the velocity of their projectiles, but the skill tree gives them that without as many downsides? Of course assuming you don't need those points elsewhere.

The precident for this has already been sst with Skills 1.0

Want longer range sensors? Pay tonnage and get BAP. Pay with a module slot and get Adv. Sensors.

Skills 2.0 has added another choice a pilot can make.

You mean after losing the entirety of its velocity quirks? Durability quirks always pale in comparison to offensive quirks. You only get that armor once. Meanwhile, offensive quirks are there every time you pull the trigger. Infinity > one. The math isn't really that hard, so losing offensive quirks is massive vs. gaining a bit of armor here and there.

So, here's the thing bout velocity quirks, player skilk can marginalize em. And with Skills 2.0, if a pilot feels comfortable with his skills and abiity to lead targets, they might choose defensive nodes that allow their mech to survive a second 35 ppfld shot without armour breach.

Question; have you tried it yet? I only did it with the 3R as that is the only Marauder in my mechbay. My build is similar to the video bellow, but on the 3R. Being able to get cooldown quirks, and spread quirks for the LBs... ohhh I'm going to be happy. And I made my mine before I saw a video of that build, just for the record.

argg watching the video just reminded me how bad those lbx weapons really are. If he had 3xac5 he would have been much better off.

Any IS 'mech that was already good without quirks. The only ones I'll be playing for a long while after the nerf will be my LCT-1E, QKD-5K, ...

Uh, that's actually it. Every other IS 'mech I own and play regularly needs its quirks to scrape by at average without needing substantial effort to make it work. Might start taking my Misery out after all this crap hits, it'll love the defense tree.

Are there any IS mechs that are going to benefit from this version of the new skill tree?

Without the quirks most of the IS mechs are getting nerfed while most the clan mechs are remaining the same some are even getting small buffs.

I like the skill tree but without offensive quirks the IS done.

Please name any IS mech that will be better.

Roughneck. Keeping structure quirks, has great mounts. Without the unique weapon quirks of other mechs it's suddenly better than the WHR. Better mobility, better armor/structure, comparable firepower, better hardpoints.

Hunchie - same situation. Great structure, solid hardpoints. However it's got worse hitboxes with the huge hump.

A few. However CXL becomes a massive advantage as all weapon quirks are pretty much comparable, so the inherent advantages of Clan tech become far more pronounced.

But did they get better or just not lose as much as other mechs.

I want IS mechs that are better, Omni mechs are getting better.

Name IS mechs that are getting better.

Casual racism? Nah.

I prefer the one with Paul Walker leaning over and saying;

"no, this 165kph light isn't fast or small or furious enough"

"all these noob pilots just can't handle the fast-game like us pros"

It's funny not because the dude is arab or indian or whatever, but because he's "piloting" old lame tractor (or a bus?). Plus he looks dorky, again, non-race-related.

Personally, I've tried the 3 AC/5 build and didn't care for it. However I will agree that he doesn't really do it justice. Snuggles Time more your style? In his he also uses the 3R for this build. The second video bellow is also from the first PTS with it upgraded with the skills.

Skip to 9m for the LBX build.

But my point was that the MAD-3R doesn't have any real helpful ballistics quirks so it's definitely getting a buff for any ballistics builds on it. Even the 2 AC/5 build would be even more powerful. Actually, it doesn't really have energy quirks either besides the 50% PPC velocity and 10% total PPC heat-gen.

It's sad how LB10-Xs are only good when quirked to not act like LB10-Xs. Spread quirks are what make them usable, but they're supposed to spread. You can thank PGI's non-existent critical system, which is simultaneously responsible for the atrocious lack of parity between IS and clan XL engines, for that debacle. PGI loves to use the mahlore excuse right up until they have to code something that takes effort. Then its,
"Well, let's just make them blow up on side torso loss. That's the way it works in TT anyways, right?"
"But aren't all hits also random in TT...?"
"SILENCE MORTAL!"

almost all the problems in the game are easily traced back directly to NOT following the Rules... somehow I fail to be shocked by how poorly "house rules" work and how they always lead to Balance problems. PGI is the terrible GM who can not figure out how to run his game properly which devolves down into the PCs abusing him because he sucks at the task at hand.

Atlas might be useful again ... structure and armor quirks in the skill tree should make it near indestructible.

To try to stay on topic, pt#1 bigger forum post was dealing with IS nerfs .
Very few people saw this as a good idea but they didn't listen. IS mechs are going to be worse off. I can't see how this is ok.
Even if new tech helps why should IS players need to run subpar mechs for months? We still don't even know if it will help. Lf engine could be a pos if they make it too heavy and put to many neg if side is lost. Target computers can be junk if they don't add good quirks for the tonnage. Weapons at best will be balance at worst they will be bad.

Just a old meme used over the years when lbx10 comes up. Wasn't posted to disrespect anyone.

Agreed that's why "Tanky" doesn't really matter. My atlas I will max out the fire power and speed tweak . If I have points left armor.

Not really. By that logic we can strip 90% of armor and throw in some more guns. I mean it doesn't really matter, it will die in a seconds when focused.
Armor matters, structure matters, bigass survivability quirks matters even more, especially when you're Atlas and soaking up bullets is part of your job description.
I mean I agree that 10% defencive quirk<<<9% offencive quirk, and I agree that skill tree will hit us hard. But in case of Atlas I think there's more sence to use skill points on survivability, then on speed and if there's anything left - on firepower.
