Empty teamspeak servers? Maybe a lot of people jumped over to Discord.

If all you are using is Teamspeaks to find people then you are looking in the wrong voip system, and I am not meaning to use in game voip.

You see Discord is free where as Teamspeak is not so more units/groups/people are using Discord and so you should find more people there than any teamspeak.

So i checked both accounts, Main account about 80 people on friends list. Only 4 have not logged in this month

Clan alt account about close to 40, and oddly only 4 again, i say oddly because they have completely different lists for the most part.

But maybe i'm just lucky i rarely get toxic people in matches.. Bad teams from time to time, of course but angry jerks, its rare. for instance last night, i played for 5+ hours,.. One match a couple people get pissy.. But what can ya do..

Middle of the week, population always low during middle of the week, peeps busy with stuff like work and life. Also, we got an event looming so people are conserving energy for that this weekend, and we got a patch incoming with some major changes (possibly) and people typically curb playing before a patch so they don't burn out before the patch lands. Typical player contractions on a regular rhythm, it is like breathing.

Yup. I like playing MWO and try to squeeze in time to play (along with Dark Souls, MW4mercs, Subnautica and Mech Commander) when Im not spending most of my time with family, work and friends and yaddayadda. The weekends usually when I have most time to play, however there are exceptions for that too.

Relative to F2P game industry numbers, the best equivalent would be a whiff of water vapor in a bucket (less than a droplet, and much less than a drop.)

Wouldn't steam play charts only count the people playing through steam?

I am referring to the gains Steam added to the game. That's like whiffs of water vapor being added to the bucket, which isn't much to begin with.

Usually when games are proud of the size of the player base, they would announce it officially, as it helps raise stock prices and capital for development. Pokemon Go for example, announced recently they have 65 million players. Blizzard recently announced they have over 30 million registered players.

Sorry it wasn't in response to your point, just a general point, I am unsure if the players not utilising steam to play are counted in the steam charts, they could be.

I figured as much, just making sure that distinction is noted in these talks.

All of that, while true, does not matter, as my original comment was aimed at OP's assertion that population had dropped again--which clearly was not correct. MWO's population has been relatively stable for close to a year.

Zealot,

I love ya baby, but two things: 1 - what's the point? And 2 - who the heck are you dropping with?

As to item #1: We all know this game has as you put it "glacial development", but really...that is what you are hanging your hat on for why population may or may not be down? Hell, I for one am far more irritated at their nerfing of old content, their utter inability to do basic statistical analysis, their seeming inability to understand the concept of power creep, and their adamant desire to break their own game as frequently as possible. I mean at least glaciers move with a good degree of predictability, I'd be happy with glacial development if it meant consistent improvement however slow.

As th item #2
Dude, You are actually asserting that "glacial development" is the "LARGEST" thing being discussed on all of your drops? That must actually be some very interesting and cerebral drops. I know you play CW almost exlusively so that might be it, cuz the only thing people discuss on my drops in group queue is whether to nascar, push the base, go over the saddle, to bother or not to bother with LRMs, the utter inconsistency of matches, and our own terribadness. That's about it. But delving into the development of the game and the state of the population? Never. Not once. Hell, maybe I should start playing CW again just for the level of conversation.

Keep fighting the fight my friend. Hope to see you this weekend.

And the game has been dead or dying since before that.
