A game mode where a good old fashioned brawl is the most direct path to victory. A game mode that isn't overpopulated with excessive players on both teams. Where one good pilot can actually compensate for one or two #mediocre ones. Where being a *****, afraid of getting a little paint scratched, will cost you the game.
Occasionally interrupted by people who drop in 4 pirates banes and dropship dive the intel.

We had a mix and had great results.
For a while we had a 2N, a Crab, a Huggin and Huncback 4SP. Had a lot of fun.
Switched to a kiting strategy after that (Ravens and Spiders) and that was even more fun (and successful too as we kept getting Polar). Just ran away shot the poor sob that got closest, and repeated. Though Ice ferrets where an occasional problem here.

Oh it's absolutely fun, I'm not denying that in the least. But what I said is mostly true XD

I employed hybrid PPC-Poptart Streak-Cat well though. The PPCs makes sure that those pesky griffins ain't safe from my streaks.

I go all in with 2xSplas, 3xASRM6, and make them rethink the concept that shadow cats can't brawl. :3

It's not unsatisfying, it's a bit of a rush to dodge fire in those while grabbing intel and then waiting for the dropship. It's also satisfying to frustrate the four players on the enemy team like that in the same perverse way that it's satisfying to dropship farm the spawn zone in the larger game modes.

Do they try to brawl at least?
When I play scouting in my DeathsKnell I grab intel first then brawl and if we start losing i run off to the dropship securing a win
so i don't lose too much

In the times I need to deal with PB+J spam, they usually do not. Split to the four winds, and dropship dive from all directions. While not absolutely completely impossible to counter, it's extremely god damned difficult. Only made less difficult if your group of 4 is very streak SRM heavy, which is usually a bad idea against the meater mediums you generally face.

Anyways, IS SRMs are good vs mediums, but kinda bad against lights. Clan SRMs are just utter garbage all-in-all, so its more like IS SRMs vs clan SPLs. Regardless, scouting is probably the most fun game mode to play since its dynamic, doesn't turn into regular mexican standoffs and actually allows for a good player to carry hard enough to win regardless of his teammates.

Why cSrms are garbage? They have exactly the same stats, only twise lighter. So even if they have bigger spread you basically can throw in Asrm6 and it still will be lighter, then IS smr6 without artemis.

scouting mode is pretty unfun when youre the defender though. especially on maps where you cant even see the green smoke from the dropship.
the green smoke obviously doesnt work since its not even visible on a lot of the maps. the defenders really need to be given the location of the dropship like the attackers.
maybe even make it so the dropship cant leave if a defender is in the dropzone.

Well, snapping legs from afar, then watching them limp towards the drop ship while you move in for the kill, is where the fun lies for the other side.

Actually, SRMs on the IS side deal 15% more damage. And they have tighter spread. Also, you don't use SRM6 without artemis for the same reason you don't snipe long distances with a shotgun. The difference being a shotgun is actually useful up close, and the SRM6 isn't. Artemis is pretty much mandatory on 6's.

Have you tried making a smoke dive? It's really gets the heart pumping because you need to dive in precisely at the right time while dodging enemy fire. It's the best.
Until you see the rewards that is. Shame I have to sacrifice rewards for a fun experience. And I'm even playing the game as it was advertised. Why would a game mode not reward you for playing it as advertised? You would think that if the intent was for it to be 4v4 skirmish it was advertised as such.

because their spread is terrible and a lot of the csrms hit components that dont contribute to killing the mech which effectively means the damage is wasted.
whereas laser vomit wastes virtually no damage. so if youre aiming for a specific location like a side torso theyre far more lethal than csrms.
for close range brawling, clan small pulses is where its at. ridiculously heat efficient and you can put all the damage exactly where you want. and for fighting at longer ranges, like around 400m, I prefer streaks.
generally in scout mode, if youre the defender, you wanna kill the enemy lights first, because if they run away they can evade you and get to the dropship and win. streaks are great for killing lights.
