Hence why a mercenary unit is given a DRAGOONS rating..

if you are acting in a certain way directly because of an arbitrary rating, what does that say about you?

It is not just an arbitrary rating, as the Dragoons monitor most (if not all) the Merc Corps.

-They established enough of a reputation that the Great Houses all started using their ratings, which means any Merc Corp that they don't rate well does not get hired.

I probably could have said all this better, but I am tired so... ah well.

it still means they act the way they do for the rating, because that directly effects them getting hired.

If paid enough, they would turn on old masters. If paid enough they would turn against themselves. They are used as dogs when you need dogs and just as expendable. Proof? No matter what I say or anyone says here about any merc unit here, they would still take your coin and do your bidding if the payment was enough. Do have loyalty? Yes but its always for sale. There is no honor among them.

The Dragoon rating has nothing to do with how they act.. It is more of how they operate, their ability to fulfill contracts, and how effective they are as a whole. Obviously the higher rated Merc Units will get the better contracts that pay better while those with a lower score will get the left overs.

As for this, it goes for any unit in any military, the better you are the higher up you will go. Every House has the few units that are Elite and unquestionable in their loyalty to the House. If they were to act poorly, they would not be in the place they are now. So what does using a rating scale say about someone who is acting a certain way? well, it means they would be acting like every military force out there.

Even though I've already stated the houses I've hated. I wanted to post new reasons why I despise House Marik strongly.

1. Thomas Marik- After surviving a bombing that killed his father, Janos Marik, Thomas decided that it would be better to have a body double to rule in his place. The reason for this was because of the FWL's hatred for cybernetics (ironically they've built it). While the fake Thomas unified the Free Worlds League the real Thomas eventually became The Master of the Word of Blake and you know the rest. Who knows how the real Thomas Marik could have been? He could have a been a worthy successor for all we know, but thanks to House Marik, that's not gonna happen.

2.They provided the Word of Blake with material and shelter. House Marik gave the WOB their world Gibson and the material they needed. That was how the Grand Crusader was made, it wouldn't surprise me if the wobbies got their implants from them too since the Mariks produced it.

You know the difference between the rulers of the Lyran Alliance and Word of Blake? Katherine Steiner-Davion was a bad Archon no doubt, but at a least her war was between her and Victor. The "Master" on the other hand pouted because of the Star League and caused massive wars that crippled the HPG stations and killed thousands people and even notable personalities across the Inner Sphere.

I've even had thoughts about joining or forming a TMM/CTM or BPM unit just to strike every Marik world possible once CW starts. I hate these guys so much want to stomp every single Marik into the ground.

Steiner - As a Germanic, I find it bitterly disappointing that a strong economy and form of government has allowed the entire state to be as degenerate as it is. Incompetent leadership, incompetent monarchs and classes are dictated by wealth oopposed to merit. Absolute garbage.

Actually, House Steiner eventually changed that, appointing actual commanders as opposed to the one's with deeper pockets. And you have to admit, their actual fighting force was quite formidable, with the equipment and the skills to use it.

I thought I read that someone tried to correct it, but ultimately, failed.

IIRC, the Lyran Commonwealth combined the skill of the Lyran soldier with the superior tactics of Davion command, and after the Commonwealth dissolved, the Lyrans continued to employ better tacticians. I guess I'll have to go reading again.

Lio, because they crush theyre citizens under an iron fist, have no honor and have demonstrated that they can learn nothing from working together with other units. Also anyone will stab anyone in the back to get ahead there.

Liao, for most of the same reasons. Dont like treachery, backstabbing people who can't keep promises to save their lives.

I know weird from a Marik loyalist...
