Heatsinks still function close enough (both being 1.4s) that yeah... being able to fit them in things like legs.... or the CT, or 4 in an arm instead of 2? Yeah it's kind of a things. As is being able to save up to 14 slots on Endo and Ferro.

So yeah... call it weaksauce all you like. You're only lying to yourself, and maybe those gullible enough not to check. But hey, keep trying to bury those details cuz they don't fit with your "Clams are teh victims" bullcrap agenda, buttercup.

Hey Bishop, I dunno if you remember the dev from the HBS forums for the new battletech game, but remember when he went on a rant why he didn't like clan tech, especially their XL engines?

I can see why he hates clan tech so much now. The idea of clan tech being overpowered against IS tech is the equivalence of independence day (movie that is).

You know, I wonder if when they were making battletech that it would ever reach this point in time (Multiplayer online FPS). I don't think they did. I wish they did... but alas, the time it was made in was another whole world. A world where things were a bit more simple....

and not as complicated as today .-.

Yeah, so much we take for granted today was barely even a credible idea when the Clams were intro'd in 1990. And pretty sure they weren't really looking at building their TT rules with video games 25 years later in mind.

because making everything the same is boring AF, and might as well just remove any form of factions at that point?

Do u want balance or not? PGI isn't capable to bring balance and diversity between 2 factions so decide what u want.

But yeah, so the cry will further from IS only players.

-Clan tech/gear should be more efficient in fire power, but fairly fragile cause of its compact and lighter design.

I disagree. I think the IS gear should be more heat efficient but less robust than it's clan counterparts. I don't want weaker components for the clans when IS has some kind of tanky advantage due to the clans lighter components.

There are several ways to balance the clans (even when they are technologically superior to the IS) and encourage more people to field IS mechs. One way is to add possible BV (that might arise newer problems so idk) and perhaps limit how many clan mechs can be allocated in a quick play per round.

Battle Value is impossible to implement in this game because of the way maps and aiming function.

BV worked in TT because terrain and weapon/hardpoint placement was not as much of an issue, plus the randomness of the dice rolling, you only got modifiers for hitting, it didn't prevent you from hitting period.

How would BV work in a game like this? You'd have to have some sort of code written to increase BV based on the meta-required high hardpoint locations.

For example, the infamous KDK-3, has a 2nd Gen BV of 2615, 475 points of which is allocated from the twin LBX20 ACs. Now let's change that to a quad UAC10 setup, that's 840 BV. Now we have to further increase the BV because the KDK-3 has 4 high mounted Ballistic points.

Let's say a conservative increase of 25 percent, basically the addition of a 5th UAC10 worth of BV points. That would be 1050 BV based just on the 4 UACs and the high hard points.

It's just way too much work for the peons working at PGI to have any chance of implementing it properly. You know as well as I do they would find some new way to bollocks it up just like they've done everything else in the game since day one.

Asymetrical yes but by damage?

OK like real steel you can have the Mech to take a beating or you take the Mech that is beating... And beating = damage = cbills

I think the first implementation of Clan Mechs were almost good considering weapons.
Althouh with omni pgi rules you had the issue with inner Clan balance that didn't solve the issu - but look at the first CW battles they were more or less equal but with Clan Pack3 and the first Clan battlemechs the progress was obvious on top of Clan weapon buffs, reducing the skill barrier for adequate clanmech handling

With your solution, hardly anyone would play Clan cause they wouldn't have the tonnage required to spam their ultra-meta-cheese mechs.

IS equipment being more robust and tanky as their niche?

I like it.

You can start by making IS XL more robust and tanky than Clan XL.

Then what reason do you have to take a STD or LFE?

Dev stream did confirm that they are implementing "jam bar" mechanic and "wind up" mechanic for RACs.

Same reason you have taking a std on clan battlemechs.

Oh, no reason? Well, why would obselete std be a problem for IS if it's not for Clan?

'Cept the Standard engine will not be completely obsolete... things like the LB-20X and HGR will force you to use Standard engines, as both take 11 crit slots....

WE go to the lore!

Except that by 3060, every IS house is fielding units conprised of Clan mechs, and putting Clan tech on IS mechs. It's time for people to accept that (according to lore) the strict "Clan vs. IS" dichotomy in tech is pretty much over.

Yea....expect IS didn't run aroud in full companies of Clan mechs and act they were just free candy....YES they had them, however they are still rare even in A line units.....so best case imo IS gets 1 Clan mech per drop deck and they must have some way to earn it besides I bought it with cbills....

Having just read all the posts there, it more or less seems to be the consensus, that at most, in major house armies, you get something like 0.7% of the mechs are Clan Mechs when looking at 87 regiments worth of mechs... and when I say major units, I'm talking like the Davion Guards, Crucis Lancers and the Hussars for examples.

When has "rarity" ever been a factor in regard to what's viable in MW:O ?
