So I tried to rethink a way to rebuild the BLR-1G & BLR-2C to actually be viable for this event... those XL Checks are punishing and continuous. So I just chucked speed out the window and went for pure tankiness & heat management... spent several million C-bills to get rid of the DHS and found that it works great. I have gotten a couple kills in the past few matches just from mechs that turned away from me when they took off my shoulder, the expectation that I would be dead is so burnt into everyone consciousness. cXL is brokenly powerful & IS XL is so weak that the only option I can see for CW is to not use it... or go as fast as an Atlas, Torso Twisting has taken a serious hit but just pretend that the dumpster fire Skill Maze has been implemented which will kill Torso Twisting ability anyways.

BLR-2C x4 LPL

Both builds can be put on either Chassis if you prefer one over the other

Edit: Put up a ERLL I was messing around with as well

There is no real IS "meta" mech. All the meta mechs are clan atm. All it takes is a marginally organized team and someone with 1/4 a brain and a lock to know to knock out your shoulders. You can make a pretty well educated guess on which mechs are running XL and which aren't by the their weapon loadout.

True... but no one expects the Spanish Inquisition or STD225 Battlemaster!!! Hence the whole point of the joke of calling it "meta"... maybe I should put that in quotation marks to convey the point adequately.

I use standards on anything half easy to hit. Wouldnt dream of not. I always run cool to, to a degree anyway.

You could use DHS and go nearly 50% faster with a 325, at the cost of 20% less sustained DPS. I've still been using an XL, and I always seem to either lose CT or CT is open and orange before I die.

thought about trying one with that after a Boreal defense but the quad LPL just works so well

IIRC, some of GMan's BLR builds are using Standard Engines They just aren't boating SHS, too.

There is an IS meta for CW, and the BLR-2C w/ 5LPL and XL engine certainly qualifies. You need the XL for the speed to get in and out of pokes and to torso twist. It's one of the few IS assault that can deal with waves of Mad IICs and Kodiaks. And I run XL in almost all my IS builds for faction, because I'd rather have mobility and firepower against Clanners than a bit more durability.

Sweet MechaJesus, why would you ever consider shaving cockpit armor off of a BLR?

..or not maxing torso armor..

..or using SHS on a mech other than the one quasi-effective joke build that uses them..

..or putting that size engine on an assault, ever..

Sorry, man.. but that build is as bad as an IS light with a standard engine.

I mean, if you're having fun with it, more power to you.. I guess it'd be worth more to the team than a LURMboat..

..but it makes me sad, deep down inside of my black heart.. to think that such an abomination is allowed to exist in this world.

I'm having pretty decent success with this: BLR-2C

The stock STD 340, two LPLas in each ST, fill the STs and engine with DHS. You're only dropping 11 damage from the 5x LPLas build, your heat efficiency is pretty good, and you've got the combination of "enough" speed (haha totally not true but that's IS life in general) to keep up with pushes without letting them kill you with a ST pop, and the 4x LPLas seems to fool at least some clammers into thinking it's XL.

This.

The IS FW meta is thus: blue beams all day, every day, on everything.

I missed the ST Armor... that is my gaffe, fixed it. But I did +1600 damage and 9 kills with it alone last match

I think me and my unit ran into in a CW match with a build was kinda lost why that Battlemaster didn't die to the XL check (really hoped it had an XL). Also I think it should atleast run a 320-340 engine just to have some speed unless you going full gunboat galore on these builds.

In that case why not use 5xLLasers? They cost 3 tons less, has 33% more range. More heat is the only noticeable downside. That's what I got on my dual AMS BLR-2C build.

the new reaver can do this build similiar and for 20t less. it's pretty tanky as well.

Yeah, it can deffo do the build, but it's not near as tanky, and I had no interest in giving PGI more money until we see how all of the upcoming changes fall out.

LMAO that's what I get for doing this **** late at night when I'm sick. Wrong version saved. It's supposed to be this. BLR-2C

That's definitely a viable option. I just prefer the LPLas for the better heat efficiency and stronger damage concentration, since the whole point of the affair is to get in close and drill through stuff while the clams try to not overheat themselves. I don't run it in a second BMaster because I've already got a dedicated medium-long range 'mech in the deck I'm using which concentrates damage better and doesn't take as much tonnage.

Listen to Yeonne: Blue beams all day.

IS LPL is one of the two best weapons in the game. This is your bread-and-butter weapon for your heavies and assaults. Anything that can take 3+ LPLs can and should. Get your teammates to equip similarly and maneuver to get into optimal range.

IS ERLL is similarly dominant on long range maps. Boat the crap out of them for Boreal, Polar, and Alpine. Okay, you'll get beat by a team of l33t ERPPC/Gauss snipers, but there aren't many of those.
