Yeah, it can deffo do the build, but it's not near as tanky, and I had no interest in giving PGI more money until we see how all of the upcoming changes fall out.

LMAO that's what I get for doing this **** late at night when I'm sick. Wrong version saved. It's supposed to be this. BLR-2C

That's definitely a viable option. I just prefer the LPLas for the better heat efficiency and stronger damage concentration, since the whole point of the affair is to get in close and drill through stuff while the clams try to not overheat themselves. I don't run it in a second BMaster because I've already got a dedicated medium-long range 'mech in the deck I'm using which concentrates damage better and doesn't take as much tonnage.

the great advantage is your deckbuild option: two 70t mechs (warhammer), mini-battlemaster 2c (reaver) and a 55t mech (bushwacker for dakka/sparky for LL build). The tonnage is equally split and you don't have to fear losing a 85t mech due to a bad move.

Just play Battlemaster-2C (5LPL, XL 350), 2 Warhammer 6D or Hopper 5P (3LPL+4Mlas, XL 340) + Cicada 2B (5 Mpl) and have fun. Unfortunately that has been the only really viable IS - dropdeck for ages now, while clan decks allow for a huge variety of mechs and builds.

XL 350? You can easily get moar engine into a 5x LPL Battlemaster.

Also, try the Dragon 1C, Roughneck 3A, Rifleman 3N, Catapult K2, Blackjack 1DC, Trebuchet 5J/5N, and the Enforcer 4R. They have utterly insane quirks that are being overlooked to the detriment of IS teams in FP. If you know a brawl is going to happen, the Orion line, Catapult A1, and Roughneck 1C offer very compelling solutions.

Standard engine 225 and heat-sinks on battlemaster? That's just about 42 - 46.1 KPH. Enemy clans are generally much faster, and could have MOAR firepower than your build.

So what if you're tanky? Now you're a sitting duck taking enemy fire, and you can only shoot so much.

Make use of XL engine and just torso twist. You might be fragile, but you'll actually live longer enough to deal damage.

True. But won't really do much when everything else about the build isn't good. I mean 42 - 46 KPH? that's even slower than a king crab with 300 STD, and it has lots of firepower.

Even if STD225 battlemaster is tanky, it will just stand there and take the heat, but not live long enough to dish out damage.

I tried std on my big guys all night and really gave them a chance and i hate it. I do half the damage i normally do because i cant fkin dodge anything. Cant get in or out fast enough, cant twist without using feet and fkin everyone behind me, cant efficiently do anything. I do far better with xl on my big guys.

dont be so quick to write off single sinks. they can be good but its very expensive in both tonnage and space. you are severely limited by the number of is dubs you can cram into a build. so provided you are using std armor and structure and an std 255 engine you can attain cooling efficiencies that are impossible with is dubs. just dont expect a lot of tonnage for weapons, end up running a build that wouldnt be out of place in 3025. its a tradeoff, a severe tradeoff but it can work.

I tried almost every IS Mech in CW in more than 2k matches and believe me, the deck I mentioned is by far the best choice for almost every Map/Purpose. Of course, for farming Pugs it doesnt really matter what you take, but if you face at least some decent pilots they will wipe the floor with you if you are driving a dragon, rifleman or blackjack.

Eh, the K2 Catapult is garbo. No jump jets, half and half ballistic and energy hard points, you really should just be bringing Jester. Every time I bring a Rifleman 3N I end up saying, "Should have brought the 5D". Only good Roughnecks are 1A, 3A, and Reaver.

This.

The IS FW meta is thus: blue beams all day, every day, on everything.

Those legs...WTF...

I know right? He totally forgot to pack the 2 armoured leg with random ammunition so that it explodes spectacularly with the first glancing shot of laser fire.

So I tried to rethink a way to rebuild the BLR-1G & BLR-2C to actually be viable for this event... those XL Checks are punishing and continuous. So I just chucked speed out the window and went for pure tankiness & heat management... spent several million C-bills to get rid of the DHS and found that it works great. I have gotten a couple kills in the past few matches just from mechs that turned away from me when they took off my shoulder, the expectation that I would be dead is so burnt into everyone consciousness. cXL is brokenly powerful & IS XL is so weak that the only option I can see for CW is to not use it... or go as fast as an Atlas, Torso Twisting has taken a serious hit but just pretend that the dumpster fire Skill Maze has been implemented which will kill Torso Twisting ability anyways.

BLR-2C x4 LPL

Both builds can be put on either Chassis if you prefer one over the other

Edit: Put up a ERLL I was messing around with as well

You clearly don't know how to build the correct Meta Mechs - the build is so obvious broken that I call you a troll.
it need to be 6 ER-Large Laser simple because 3 can be fired without triggering ghost heat.

Oh noes and the Machine Guns every problem can be solved with moar Machine Guns - but this might cost me the 205XL so the Mech will suck

There are some variations on that deck that are very strong. I've taken to front-loading my tonnage more because I don't see Streak-boats as much.

2x BLR-2C, WHM/GHP, Locust

(or my fave

BLR-2C, ZEU-9S, WHM/GHP, Spider).

I got no battlemaster, however I use my banshees with high mounted 4 x lpl. Not as fast but more armor. Gotta watch the heat in a possible brawl against clanners though.

K2 doesn't need the jets. It can run 4x ERLL with -15% beam duration or it can run 30 PPFLD with two PPCs and a well-endowed AC/10. Both on a reasonably quick STD engine. The front-forward shape lets it roll damage while returning fire, synergizing well with firing line type of play.

RFL-3N does 35 PPFLD like no other IS 'Mech. If you have difficulty leading shots, then swap the PPCs for 3x ERLL. The Gauss projectile currently flies at 2800 m/s on it; it is hitscan for all practical application. Actually makes the PPCs trickier, but synchronizes right up with the lasers. The 5D is solid, but the lpng range punch with PPCs isn't there. Better with ERLL.

RGH-1A is trash. If you are in a brawl, you want the 1C. If you are fighting at range, you want the 3A or Reaver. The rest can be ignored.
