Not to defend PGI, or whoever you are specifically talking about, but the argument is a bit silly. It is like saying if you are a Marathon runner, your doctor has to be one to be able to diagnose and fix your issues.

As far as balance is concerned, I have seen well coordinated teams with IS or Clan tech decimate the other team. I am not arguing if the balance is off or not, just that it is not as much a factor as some believe. Skill and teamwork or a bit more important than if you have a slight edge in tech.

To make it short: on each day clans are winning by a huge marging. Your conclusion is: better organised (=skilled) teams are playing on the clan side.

Yeah, all skilled players are on one side, the others suck. This can be the only conclusion from such a complete domination.

it's not complete domination, if we had the old "territories" to conquer you woudl see ike 19vs21 or 18vs22 territories and hardly anyone would complain. This bar is just a very bad reflection of accumulation suggesting this "complete" dominance..

Well, maybe it's true, but then one would have to ask: Why are so many good players preferring Clan?

My theory would be that good players tend to gravitate toward good builds and loadouts, too, and they find better ones on the Clan side than the IS side - and that is despite having a 25ton drop deck disadvantage...

Definitly valid argument. Something worth to look into.

I think the margin is like 55/45 so not as big a margin as you think. Since the system does not restrict players from joining one side or the other, it is easily possible that there are more players joining Clan units that IS units, giving them an advantage.

It they wanted to make the game more historically balanced, there should be a numerical advantage for IS side and balance sides by limiting Clan to 2x5 man Stars vs, IS 3x4 man clusters. I don't think that would fly in the current state of the game.

Anyway there are other factors at play as well. Considering you can take all your Clan Mech Variants and outfit them all the same due to Omni Pods. Vs different IS versions having very unequal skills.

I think some big balance process now would be a bad idea, as the new tech is going to skew all of that somewhat. Balance may be a different animal then.
