Not me. That game and this one are completely different.

Which is why I'll play both. :3

has shown me that what I really enjoyed the most was mission play: trying to accomplish storyline-based objectives using available/achievable resources, all leading up to a (hopefully) glorious end goal. That feeling of working through the story/lore background

My most memorable games that I loved the most would be for that reason, Starcraft, Starcraft broodwar, Command and Conquer Red Alert, MW2, Mech Commander.

The Battletech Game starts to look exceptional!

Looking forward to play it!

Soon my steam age Internet concludes a 34h download @ 1MBit/s of MWO to see if reinstalling makes it run after the patch made it stop to work...but to me ist more a techdemo by now than a game i play...

Battletech =/= MWO
Most will probably play both, hopefully battletech is open for modding so that the mekhq/megamek guys will just xfer over (mekhq with auto campaign linking + hbs graphics + random events generator Posted Image ), as for those hoping this will result in an exodus of the "complainers" here, most of those grognards left a long time ago, the ones remaining are just the bored people who are somewhat resigned to "being on an island" and messing about in-game or in forums Posted Image.

I prefer the FPS nature of MWO over the RTS nature of HBS. I'll be staying here.

Ah, so you don't even know what it is.

I will play the new game once it is out for sure because I love turn based games. That is, of course, if the reports are positive.

Nevertheless I will play MWO. However, less because my free time is limited. And honestly, I need a break. The game is currently an idiotic snipefest with a lot of long-range laser fire and gauss/ppc. It is boring like hell and brawling is basically dead. Simply because energy weapons have such bloated ranges.

Most likely the new skill tree makes it even worse. Add that the IS quirks get reduced/removed while clanners get the same quirks...umm...yeah. This will be interesting.

This logic would be the same as "New Xcom is coming out, no need to play Battlefield 2142 anymore".

Two totally different games that appeal to two completely different aspects of mech combat.

Yes and no. The games have something in common opposed to your example: they share the franchise.

I am sure that quite a bunch of people scratch their BT itch here because of the lack of an alternative. And a lot of old bones played BT as a boardgame - the HBS game is closer related to the board game. This wouldn't matter if the player pool weren't low already.

This. I don't know how many will leave forever but I'm sure it will cut into MWO time for some.

Me, I'll probably just check it out sometime but don't think I will play much. More of a RTS guy, never played turned based strategy much.

But who knows, maybe that game will get some vets back into BT and then they will come back to this game. Plus the new tech coming out, I bet that gets some people back.
