Would prefer this money be spent on gaining new players and current player retention IMHO.

George Ledoux, you have 1 year to familiarize yourself with MWO maps, mechs, meta, and high level strategy. We so need Duncan Fisher calling the finals with Bandit and MDMzero.

The entire world championships thing is basically a marketing expense.

Nice to see.
Any details on a better and more flexible pre rounds organization?

Greetings

The qualifier stages (whatever they end up being called) will take place via the Ranked play mode that they're working on adding, so that they won't need to have a round robin with thousands of scheduled matches. The top teams from Ranked mode will qualify for the latter stages of the tournament and go from there. That's (more or less) what we know at this point.

Seriously? People's favorite thing about Mech_Con 2016 was watching PPFLD being shot around Canyon Network exclusively, and not the BT presentations? How sad.

So now we begin the 6-7 months of "Wait until Mechcon" or "Details will be released at or after Mechcon" Wait that we had last year? Can you guys please give us more new maps?

**** off.

Stop planning parties and remodeling your break room. You might free up some time to work on the game you supposedly develop.

I'm very happy to see this happen again. I went solo last year but had such a great time and talked so much about it to my friends I think one of them might join me this year.

I just can't get a point about all of this "use-the-money-for-develop-the-game" stuff. I mean... gosh, did you people hear anything about advertisement and support the community's activity? That's why all the big and mediocre and even small development companies are trying to make some action for their player base. It's kind of necessary, it's a part of any marketing strategy. I'm living far away from Canada and can't afford such a big trip. But I strongly assured that if PGI and our favorite game particularly want to get better and more popular, there are must to be things like a MechCon. That's why I'm really happy about this news.

I am going to try to be there, but it is a really long drive / expensive flight and I would have to renew my passport.

Lol so much salt! Any chance of Mech_Con having associated rewards for someone who doesn't attend, twitch, or in any way participate?

Not more dangerous than anywhere else...

A con in europe would be great, I (and I am sure many others, too) cannot justify the expenses for oversea traveling for a one-day-event. As interested as I would be to meet many other people I may know from the virtual battlefield, I just cannot spend that much money.
