How To Tell A Trial Mech From A Regular Mech Without Custom Paint

It would appear that Trial Mechs evidently have a few "features" added to them that seem to be universal, across both factions. They seem to:
- automatically run toward an enemy target (ECM excluded) as fast as they possibly can.
- stop whenever a weapon is triggered. Maximum zoom is engaged at this time as well.
- engage full reverse if weapons fire is sustained for more than 1.43 seconds.
Not sure why these features were added or if they help in any way. Just thought I'd point it out.

Been saying that for a while now. FW is the only place, outside of events, you can rack up free mechbays.

Have been seeing YOU and your min/maxed custom mechs doing exactely the same stuff, getting yourself killed first in less then 1 min after the game started.
As for "max zoom" some folks have a decent display and a different FOV then you, just sayin'.

Yep. I'm human, just like anyone else. Nobody can take a 12 man group to the face. Happens when you make the mistake of holding a flank instead of using the trial mechs as a shield....like I normally do.

I thought this was going to be about the mechs, as in you shoot a guy rear CT with dual peeps and he still has armor left--gotta be a trial.

^^ This . Big difference from playing on a 24in and a 42/46in screen (depends on which room I am in...)

shoot it!
is it still alive?
if no, its a trial mech.
if yes, its not a trial mech, shoot it again.

Agreed.
And if there were some way that us experienced players could ever drop into a match without them, I'd be much happier. Perhaps there's some achievement I've missed?
I mean, it can't be fun for them either. I'm salty as hell and quite frankly, I've facetanked damage for them so they can go woosh woosh woosh enough that I refuse to do it anymore.

ive said it time and time again: default faction/unit mechs. its sort of like a trial drop deck but its fully upgraded to be a solid deck. these mechs would be fully skilled (in a pre-defined way). all factions have their own decks. you dont have to own those mechs, but you cant modify the deck either.
units can define their own default decks, but the mechs cost 12x their usual rate (cbill or mc), since you are buying several of them, customization costs are also at 12x the rate, and both draw from the unit coffers. these mechs belong to the unit and can only be modified by those with the correct permissions. units may also force new players to use the unit decks based on rank, only a warrior who has proven himself may bring a custom deck.
the faction decks make it easy for pugs and loyalists to get started. the unit decks make it easy for units to recruit and train new members and get them used to the unit's preferred tactics. idk how this would work with freelancers, maybe they would have a faction neutral default deck they can use (though i really think freelancer needs to be abolished and just permit unitless mercs instead, since freelancer is the most useless mode there is).
in addition to this pgi could sell faction oriented mech packs specifically for faction play, they would come with an extra deck and 4 mechs that max out the allotted tonnage. they would come with a faction pattern for whatever side they represent and a week of premium time, and a 15% xp bonus. they can be used anywhere but they are meant to allow a new player to start playing fp and level their mechs quickly so as not to be a burden to their team.
