I'm pretty sure my Wolfhound is as big as an Assassin..... Hard to eyeball in match though.

You are absolutely right, what PGI should have done was resize mechs by volume but also apply a class and/or faction factor.
Thus Is mechs could have been slightly smaller ton for ton than clan mechs thus providing an extra balancing factor.
It could even have been done by class so that lights could be a little bit smaller
As it is a lot of clan mechs, because they are deep bodied chicken walkers, end up being quite small from the front and easily able to spread damage whereas Is mechs, being mostly humanoid, are large from the front and aren't quite as good at spreading damage
i dont really have and gripes or argument against the differences of mechs when u look at boats vs humanoid.. fatter is fatter and would be shorter.. Its when u have 2 quite similar humanoids of differing weights that have oddly differing heights which seem to be opposite of what one expects.. best example is the phoenix hawk that stands as tall as a black knight thats 20t heavier than it..

Comparing an apc/ifv to a tank is really not applicable here, none of the mechs are carrying troops for one...
never said they did. Was simply pointing out that Height and weight are not necessarily interrelated. Since even with the open space for crew, it's still narrower and not as long.
Of course, CK also posted the m60 Patton in his original post , which IS directly comparable... and at 45 tons is 10.5 ft. tall, so over 20% taller than the 20 ton heavier M1A1.
Or the m1128 Mobile Gun System, etc.
Big point being.... Taller don't mean bigger, and lighter can be taller than heavier, no matter how you want to obfuscate the point.

Why only the IS lights? Have you seen the Jennerprise's cousin the Jennerprise IIc: Revenge of the CT?
