that VND-1AA suddenly shines as a mobile mid-range direct fire support mech

You mean the one that lost 30% PPC velocity and 5% PPC heat generation?
The one that is now less agile than a Stormcrow?

I love this patch !

After all, something is changing - thats the good point.

If anyone complaining was confident with the state before: start crying. All others continue crying.
After this patch there are some options, especially on mechs which had no quirks at all.

All these complains about mobility: read the Q&A and the pdf's containing the quirk summary.

The new system is not perfect - true. But do you really think its worse for the gameplay than the old system ?

If you want to complain, there is always a point: I still do not like the colors of the forest colony map for example and there is no skill to alter colors - blame it on pgi lads
;)

I'm looking forward in skilling 350 mechs. cyas in the field

Wat?
If i'm reading the Q&A right, modules bought after 3rd of december are not refunded for their full purchase price?

Haven't been on the forums for a few months, so still trying to make sense of everything.

Can't get the logic of PGI. There is plenty of IS mechs which are not being used even with good quirks. PGI removes quriks from IS mechs but in same time gives ways to improve clan mechs. I will choose warhammer over hellbringer because of ...?

Absolutely hate this new system, but will give it a try anyway. Wouldn't make sense to slam the door and leave without at least trying it out Posted Image I've been away from the game for a couple of months, so hopefully I'll be able to take a fresh look at the mechs without my previous experience clouding my judgement. I have to say, though, that my main grudge is not with the Skill Tree itself, but with the engine desync. It's just a big f*ck you to all the Clan mechs with big engines, and what hurts the most is that PGI officially admitted that it is intended to be a f*ck you to the Clans. I remember trying it out on PTS, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I took my Kodiak out for a ride... I mean, its was literally disgusting to pilot the damn thing. But let's see how it plays out. Anyway, we are essentially in a beta testing phase now. Huge changes are coming in the next month's patch, so there's no point in reading too much into the current mechs' performance.

Grind is going to get real..

Also there will be less noticeable difference between mastered and unmastered mechs (while you'll have to grind more to master it). Im not sure yet, is this a step forward or 2 steps back..

Grind is disappearing.. need just one mech and not three, and most people get so many skill points they can instantly master mechs they buy in the future..

Nah, grind is greater, you just grind c-bills instead of exp.

Thank you PGI for this patch!
Now, I am released from the burden of MWO and can play other games, where the developers listen to their community.

Well, I see no reason to spend any skill points on my IS mechs (or play any FP matches for that matter) until whatever balancing is done in the next few months. And since it sounds like lasers are getting nerfed next month, looks like we are going to be seeing a lot more Night Gyrs poptarting with Gauss & erppc. I'm betting the engine desync makes them even stronger as their only drawback seemed to be a lack of agility (at least to me). They are going to be so broken it'll make us forget about the KDK-3.

Lucky you. One of the reasons why I decided to give MWO another chance is because I ran out of other games to play :) Just finished playing Prey, replaying Witcher 3 and leveling my characters in the current league of Path of Exile. Figured it would make more sense to try this new Skill Tree rather than start another NG+ cycle in Dark Souls 3 or something :) Wouldn't be here now if the Fall of Oriath released in May rather than July, though.

@Alex / @PGI!

Sorry, but some of you made a mistake in the Patch Notes AGAIN... Your Firepower Skill Tree and your Nodes Value/Difference Tables DO NOT MATCH...

F.e. in the Tree, there are about 16 Cooldown Nodes.. and the Tables work with 10.. Same problam with the Range and HeatGen Nodes.. etc..

1. Please, check and correct your numbers... ASAP!

2. Please, find someone, who really HAVE time to read your announcements.. before posting it...

Thx!

Like which one?

And edit: PGi actually listens to community too much and that results and features getting cancled and everything being late. If you would ban half of so called forum-warriors game would get much better soonish.

Because they're moving those quirks from mechs to weapon stats. Mostly next month.

This is just the first post. There was no need to post something in the past. But over one year and a half I have been playing this game, PGI constantly missed good suggestions from the community. And this patch brings it to the top. So, I just say good bye.

Modules purchased prior to December 3rd 2016 are being refunded in the form of General Skill Points (GSP), which can be consumed to unlock Skill Nodes for any 'Mech you wish.

What. The. ****.

Almost all of my modules were bought well before 2016 and now they are all gone into GSP.
All of those cbills and time to earn them, gone.
Also, can someone tell me how much it costs to use a single skill point to unlock a node?
I want to figure out how much I have lost.

you are losing nothing with these old modules as you get more out of it than you invested (in form of global skill points which are worth ep and credits). of course you can't buy new mechs for it but you can level evey mech with it.
