Maybe I am just getting old, but I remember when you had to read a manual and know how to use DOS commands in order to play a computer game

You have to admit, though, that editing config.sys and autoexec.bat was considerably more straightforward than the Skill Tree...

I'm pretty sure you meant increase TTK, which I wholeheartedly support. I get tired of corner-poking and having half my side blown off, or getting into a brawl, having someone from the other side join, and realizing that I have no option to even think about disengaging because it's already over.

Doh...yeah, my bad...thanks for catching that!

What is this crap with the skill tree? why do i have to spend these precious skill points on garbage I have no interest in to get to the skills i actually want? why do I need improved gyros to get to heat containment? this is supposed to be skills right? what do gyros have to do with heat management? How are those skills related in any way?

You have taken all the proficiency's people are used to and want and put them behind walls of crap no one ever used or wanted, No one ever cared about sensor range or target decay (except lurm-hards) but now to get to radarderp (the thing almost everyone uses) you have to take that garbage. This is frustrating. If you wanted to nerf radarderp, just nerf radarderp putting it behind a bunch of garbage isn't a clever way of mitigating it, just an annoyance.

Edit: spacing

I have not been able to try the skill tree yet, but most of U.I. 2.0 took some time to get used to, so I am sure the skill tree will be the same.

Also, editing autoexec.bat and config.sys files was beyond the abilities of many people, I remember laughing about having to take an MSDOS class in college.

it's so bad... is it too late to go back to the previous version? you know freeze it at one point like they did for their tournament?

Please no, it has been delayed long enough.

Took me about an hour of dorking around with my first mech, learning how to tap into GSP vs HSP, etc...

After that, I had a FP drop deck done in about 20 minutes...

Soooooo 5 minutes per mech unless I *really* want to deviate from my own preferences.

If I'm just speccing the mechs I use, that is not really that bad...

and about the comparison to DOS config files...

You have to admit, there is a different intuition required for a modern GUI and an Nerdy text file from back when memory was at a premium.

I am not saying this UI is perfect nor effertless, but it is servicable enough.

The game has been out for almost four years and the skill tree system was delayed until now. it took almost FOUR years to introduce a skill tree system that was promised in BETA! What makes you think it's any better now than before? Just because it's been delayed does not mean it's any good. All this time and effort put into this piece of **** system and all it's doing is killing what remains of the MWO community. PGI is just taking advantage of the die hard fans for every penny. Suck a penis, PGI.

supply cache now has decals instead of modules

what happens when you get a decal you already own?

Another question that was asked and ignored.

on the upside, now I remember why I meant to log into the game prior to patch this morning as use all those supply keys. To bad I forgot to actually do so.

It could - should - have been done better.

Yes, it should've been done better. But it' s better than not done at all.

First, yes you are that old but then so am I.
Second:
C:\>cd xwing
C:\XWING>xwing.exe

They at least called it "Command Line Scripting" when I took it. Finished the class half way through.

I imagine it's pretty simple to see what a person has in their inventory and simply not offer it as a potential prize.

Something to be happy about: If you never used the MC consumables won from various events over the years (I never wanted to set them to auto refill and accidentally use real MC!) you now get a nice chunk of free MC... I got almost 5k MC for example... worth about $20US for consumables I never would have touched.

Thanks PGI

I have enjoyed the new skill tree as it has made LRMs a bit more effective again. (Tired of rock, scissors with no paper)

To those who do not like buying things you do not want to get the things that you do (like the Speed Tweak): it is bringing opportunity cost to the game.

You have to weigh the things you want against the things that you really want. A shrewd move by PGI to avoid having someone spec a mech out to max potential and mow people down.

It forces players to pick and choose a path that fits playstyle. I am a fan of the skill tree so far.

All the lights that are picking mobility more than firepower and durability are learning it was not such a good idea. Posted Image
