Honestly, the trolling is wayyy nuts...Most mechs now handle quite differently and you have many more choices and yes, you actually have to make choices about how you want to run your machine now. I think this is good for the game and good for the future.

It is down to mixed on steam at 65% because of the negative feedback the last 2 days :(

Steam reviews should not be taken seriously for the most part.

According to new "quirks list" https://static.mwome...an%20Quirks.pdf timberwolves must have adequate acceleration and deceleration speed, but when I've yesterday redownloaded whole game client (cause Steam just won't simply 'patch' it, he want to redownload him only. thanks for wipe away two hours of waiting, devs) and launched it at last - I've gone into deepness of skilltree, tuned TBR-C(S) as I want (what takes for me some time despite I've participated on PTS) and thought that it will be nice to check him before real match. But during testing grounds match I've realized, that this mech have tremendous 1kph acceleration and deceleration - I've been sooooooo surprised Posted Image For now it's not a mech anymore. It's a train. Old rusty steam train, who better for only flat ground, or long travels. From one maps side to other. Or better - after map borders Posted Image
I've returned into mechlab and respeced him, then tried testing grounds again - no difference. Thanks to great Random, this bug found only with this mech - TBR-C(S) from steampack. Ebj from another pack tested without any improvements and acted as intended. Pirates Bane too, all others don't picked as it took no interest to retune all of owned mechs.
Devs, any thoughts about hotfix?

To clarify once again my previous, post, My complaint was first about the ui complexity for assigning skills which admitedly once explained went very smoothly but without a tutorial it took me a while to get through and secondly the biggest complaint was how the refund system was worked out, I don't care about modules converting to gxp/sp what ever I wanted a 1-1 c-bill swap, so I could buy new mechs, very disapointed with this.

The Skill tree itself has some rather annoying build paths with certain things gated behind next to useless upgrades, but I do like it, even though It will take a while to fix up all my mechs.

So after 5 mins ( read and chose my skills a week prior) of specing my kdk-3 i find it about 85% to what it was before the skill tree. Still kind of sluggish.
Went full mobility, got up to both seismic sensors, and all cooldowns plus both lbx spead reduction.

The skill tree isn't so bad, however you cant get everything back prior to the skill tree. I cant even get any radar dev as an option cuz i sacrifice that for mobility. I also experimented with survivability and its actually very good. U tank like boss in a assault. Operations is garbage. IMO i didn't see any difference.

For IS Assault, I got the magazines and its very good. For uac5 dakkas, with 10 tons ammo u get 60 more rounds (off top of m head) with full magazine skills. U can take 1-2 tons off ammo and get whatever on yur load out. Was quite accommodating with my mauler dakka.

Theres gonna be some good and hard choices to consider. Overall it aint a significant change prior to skill tree IMO.

My $.02 after actually trying the skill tree and sleeping:

It is a bit daunting at first, but does not take a terribly long time to figure out how it works.

The skills are not easy to click on or off.

Radar Dep is too deep down in its tree.

PGI REALLY needs to either give us one free respec for each mech, or let us play a few games with the skills before our selections become permanent, even if it just in the testing grounds (look at HOTS' 'TRY' feature).

Overall...
Old gameplay was more changeble for one mech. Now you need more.
New give you more meat to chop and to survive, more houres to play.
For me, it is OVERNERD, old one was not enough. Toooo many nodes...

Im not sure what i should think about the Skill Tree so far.

Skilled some mechs and played them, not a big change at all.

The game is still what it was 3 years ago.

Maybe it would have been better to spend the work and money into giving this game some depth and story.

Dont know how this Skill Tree will lure new players into this game, and in my opinion that is what this game needs.

OK I'll admit I was preparing to get mad about this complex and seemingly unnecessary patch but.....but I tried it and after messing around a bit I think I like it.

I'm not mad about it...hoping it grows on me...but kinda hoping at the same time I just stay away. Online game time is like soul death sometimes.

Greetings, Mechwarriors!

This post isn't about my personal opinion - it's about collecting data regarding the new Skill Tree.

As evidenced by this thread, some people hate it, others love it - but why?

Which factors influence our enjoyment of this new aspect of Mechwarrior Online?

Please answer this short questionnaire to help us find out!

I am also posting this as a separate thread in General Discussion, at /r/OutreachHPG and in the German section of the MWO Forums.

This has to be sarcasm. Ive got just ~5% of all modules refunded in c-bills. Rest of it - useless gsp.

My goodness! People are complaining about "useless" nodes? "I can't get EVERYTHING I want on my mech!!!"

Boo...Hoo.

Make the best mech you can with what is available and move along...please.

This update/skill tree is awesome. I truly mean that. I love that I can more fully customize my mech to my liking, and I even like that I am faced with the hard decision of Sensors or Firepower or Mobility. Makes my decisions more important. Fun update.

Its like they forget the useless skills the old system offered... You had to get weapons convergence even if you had no arm weapons...
