I click the red transfer sp button, and try to transfer 91 HSP to my mech.
I get this screen:

Example of multiple error numbers (positive error numbers in my case) on the same mech :
1860233224
1890829760
1890698672
Restarting MWO did not solve the problem.

Also on a mech on which you can't transform HSP into SP, you can't transform GSP into SP either, so it's not specific to HSP only.
Which doesn't prevent you from transforming HSP or GSP for other mechs in your account, so it's not an account or server related problem either.
It might be related to having duplicate copies of the same variant of a mech, but other users who had the conversion error said they didn't have that problem with duplicate copies of other mechs in their account.
So instead it might simply be limited to a certain amount of mechs : Did anyone else here manage to convert HSP/GSP into SP on a Phoenix Hawk or Mad Dog ?

- It's a Mad Dog.
- It's the only mech on my account that is bugged.
- It has duplicate copies (same variant), and the copies are equally bugged.
- It's the only mech I have more then two duplicate copies of.
- I do have another mech that has two duplicate copies : That one isn't bugged.
- What is special about the bugged mech, is that I purchased a duplicate copy (same variant) a few hours before the patch : During the 24 hours when the invasion mode was switched back on for a day just before the Skill Tree patch.

In my case, I didn't buy any of the mechs directly before the patch. Not sure whether it has anything to do with this, but I entered the training grounds unskilled with one of the 5Ps before actually trying to skill it and transfer the HSP. Or maybe it has something to do with the mechs being in a drop deck?

That's very interesting : You're saying you were able to fix a bugged mech you had, by doing "something" with it ?
That would mean it's possible to fix them, although that fix might have nothing to do with playing a match with it.
Update :
- I played 3 Quick Play games with my bugged Mech, on the third game I had a team win and scored over 2000 XP, but that didn't fix it.
- I stripped everything off with the "Strip Mech" button, used default camo, default colors, no decals and no cockpit items... and that didn't work either. But I do own duplicate mechs that I didn't strip down.
- I also took off all omnipods (can't take off the engine), and that didn't work either.
- I haven't tried taking him into invasion mode.
- I haven't tried taking "every identical variant" into a QP or invasion match either.
- I didn't do anything special (not even one Quick Play) with all the other mechs on my account that all worked fine right away.

As a reminder, the bug is : I can't assign a single SP to my Mad Dog, not by using HSP, not by using GXP.
BUT... I CAN assign Skill Points to that Mad Dog, by spending 45,000 cbills and XP to purchase a NEW skill point.
The Mad Dog is still bugged after I purchased some SP with cbills for it.

Thanks, but they're one step behind me : The bug isn't related to a specific "chassis", since I had the bug with all of my MDD-A, while someone else (Agent Cookie) didn't have the bug with his MDD-A.

It hitted not just one of my mechs...its plenty!

It might be, but I have 2 identical mechs of a different chassis and that one isn't bugged, and another forum user reported having multiple copies that weren't bugged either while another one of his mechs was...
So unfortunately it's more tricky then just the chassis type, or having multiple copies of a chassis type. It would be easy to fix if it was that simple.
And then there's Kinski Orlawisch who just said plenty of his mechs are affected, which is the first time I hear someone say that.
On my side I tried purchasing (with cbills and XP) one SP for every mech affected, I was able to purchase and apply the new SPs but it didn't fix the problem.
From my limited point of view it's like my bugged mechs are trying to fetch their HSP/GSP from the wrong place, or more likely trying to put the resulting SP into the wrong place (maybe into a duplicate copy of the mech), so the operation fails and an error is reported instead.
But if you're lucky you can have duplicates mechs that do put the resulting SP into the right duplicate mech, in which case you're not bugged despite owning multiple copies.

The mechs I have mainly used. The Hellbringer prime, the Atlas DDC....the Thunderbolts 5SS...all mechs with nearly 3 Million HXP on are blocked. The Hellbringer have 364 HSP.....So it is frustrating not to bee abel to use HSP/GSP on them..and I only checked 30 of my mechs so far....
