Hmm thats strange, which assault? My Maulers are WAY more mobile now, so much so that I don't even take speed tweak on a std300....just accel/decel + twist/turn.

I feel like it got pushed out a little too fast and that PGI isn't willing to fix the core mechanical problems with the system. Throw in a bunch of nerfs to many sub-par mechs despite the fact that the skill tree buffs everybody by the same amount and I don't feel like overall good progress was made.

While I do prefer the new tree, it's a frigging chore to reskill and adapt to the new stuff. I've logged in two days now, reskilled 3 mechs, and played 1 match. I look at the rest of my hangar and go "Sigh". There's simply to much work for little gain. I wish we could have some kind of templates we could save and load for skills. Also ... all these variants of XP and SP and GXP and HSP ... I'll add my three letters here: OMG! I'm an adult, I have RL chores ... gaming shouldn't be one of them.
But I can see how this new system is preferable and entertaining by new players. It's just bad for us veterans.

Nay on the skills. Logged in to check them out then 15 mins later logged out because I went full white girl and couldn't even.

This is a bloated mess that increases the threshold you need to get involved in the game by dozens of hours. The only gain that it bestows is giving veteran players with enough skill points accumulated fully tricked out mechs that they can bash on new players with. And that is not really a gain, it is actually a horrible thing.
New players and even veterans are now faced with having to make 91 choices (in addition to just the basic mech lab loadout!!) on each mech. Talk about choice paralysis.
Here's the thing: you don't need to improve a stock mech to still enjoy the game. But if other guys are out there with fully tricked out mechs while you are in a stock mech, you are not going to have a good time.
