I can still get my spirit bear to 90kph, and I had a game last night where I did 850 damage or so.

Although I'm not a T1 player. The game I was in was in the 3-5 range skill wise.

The Spirit Bear was what I'm planning to buy MC for but never mind now.

Against an incoherent group of randoms, I suspect that this mech will still work and occasionally put up magnificent damage numbers. But then, Molten Metal put up a video of him getting 9 kills, 1200 dmg from a Wolfhound, so yea...

The actual test is when you have to use it to fight competent people.

The difference between Atlas and Spirit Bear has always been the epitome of Tank vs Swift. Atlas takes much more shots while SB can outmaneuver an Atlas to dish additional punishment. Unless you are one of those "let's put LRMs onto everything!," that was the titanic duel of the 100 dichotomy.

So, I know there was a lot of discussion about it, but I was like... this must be overblown. Cause, my TBF works fine. I took it into a scrim against an Atlas... and got completely annihilated.

It was such a lopsided piece of shat battle, that I am seriously considering refund assuming PGI doesn't address it by next patch. The problem with the slow acc/del is that, the spirit bear isn't a striker. It's not a bomber, it was a 100 ton Muhammad Ali. When you hit top speed on a SB, guess what when you need to turn that corner to get behind the Atlas? You can't slow down!

So what ends up happening, is that you make a ridiculous big circle the entire fight without any true mean of pointing your guns at the center. The Atlas just laugh and shoot you as you run wide like an idiot.

Now, sure, you can start off the engagement with 50% speed (and don't talk to me about MASC, that shat is broken and only adds top speed, counting on it for acc/del is like praying you will win the lottery), but then, you already start off with less armor. Again, I re-emphasize, this titanic battle was NEVER about facetank vs facetank. It was agility vs tank, Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier. Now? It's like a 50 year old Ali trying to fight a prime Frazier. It's literally pathetic.

I understand a lot of MC/Real Money mech have been nerfed before. Mechs like poptart king of the old days... but see to me... those nerf is across the board and across generations. A nerf to JJ is a nerf to ALL jj. I felt the engine desync is address specifically to ONE mech, and that's the Kodiak. and it's god damn unfortunate that one of the premier brawler in this game is stomped on by PGI like this.

So either I accept the fact and remake my SB like so many lrm-tards, or I ask for my money back. That's pretty much the only options at the moment. I hope PGI read this thread and address the issue. Cause I'm frankly a little enraged by this POS.

Incredibly well put razenWing. The question now is, how do we make enough noise for PGI to listen? It seems the overwhelming consensus is that folks agree the SB is not functioning as intended. Where do we go from here?

1 F-22 costs $150 million. Its also too general purpose and is outperformed by older, role specific designs like the F-16. The F-16 only costs $15-19 million. You can field 10 F-16s for the price of 1 F-22. As a concept it works as intended. In practice, not so much. Even looking at the F-35, a newer fighter that outperforms the F-22 and still costs less per unit (when not taking into account the program cost, which I admit is far greater than the F-22).

1) F16 is multirole. It was meant as a dog fighter, but then everyone realized that that was a terrible idea, so it's multirole now. It spends most of its time lugging bombs.
2) Also, the F22 is the specific plane for Air Superiority, and it does it better than the F16 (higher speed, altitude, range, stealth, radar, missile kinematics...)
3) F16's don't cost $16-20 million. Maybe back in the 80's, but fourth generation planes have been taking on a lot of feature bloat. 20 million is just the airframe, you need other equipment to help it keep up, like targeting pods, radar upgrade, conformal and external fuel tanks. This is important when comparing the cost of 4th gen airframes to F22 AND F35.

F35 is great though. F22 got kind of screwed by getting cut during a recession, so the upgrade schedule, airframe costs, and future development are borked, but it is a pretty incredible airplane. The pricing of a fifth gen programs suck, for the F22 because it hadn't been done before (and it was made with no expense spared), and for the F35 because of the sheer scale (it's the F16 of the 21st century), but I think it's worth it.

Glad it's not just me. I was really looking forward to the ST just to boost the mobility and......

Now it's far worse than before even when boosted. They have absolutely killed this mech and it was a nice difference to the other variants.

I hope they find a way to restore it back to how it was while balancing something else. I miss this mech RIP.
