Pretty much what the title said because I want to get out of all the salt the community is producing currently.

The reason why I made this thread was because that I got my first headshot in Mechwarrior Online some hours ago and it felt amazing.

I was in my Jagermech-DD with dual AC10, 4 machineguns and 2 MLs and everyone went crazy with brawling all of sudden.

So I just kept shooting and switching targets when they are down until I faced a nearly fresh Mad Cat while I was red and orange for my armor.

But then I killed it in ten seconds because I shot right through the cockpit.

It felt so damn good to have that headshot out of nowhere.

And having that achievement just popped up at the bottom of the screen just made it even better.

So, how did it feel when you get your first headshot?

Considering you weren't even going for it, plus it took you ten seconds, plus you killed a (fresh?) target while orange CT because of lucky shot placement, just kind of makes me hate headshots more.

I think I have died to 2 headshots personally and made 1 kill with headshots, so its not like its hugely common but still, they end up working so weirdly in this system, either an instakill or wasted damage.

My first one was in my direwolf in frozen city. Came across a shut down raven in a small little crook. I think he was shut down waiting for us to pass cause he was out of place so he could come in behind us. Anyways. He was much lower than myself (i was above him on like a ramp) and just lowered my arms down and fired everything in my arms ...was a blind shot cause i couldn't see him directly. However, I saw i killed him and saw the achieve....needless to say I laughed pretty hard.

I can't remember most of them, but there were about 2 times when my mech was stripped, cored and cherry red but I still had my weapons and I intentionally did a quick headshot to take down whatever was in front of me. That's stressful though so it doesn't happen a lot. I just potato and die. :3

I got my first head shot (post achievements inclusion) with my Stalker's CT mounted LPL, against a Jenner. Still has the screenshot. Posted Image

My first ever heat shot was against an Atlas in the Old River City, back in beta. I was like:

I can't remember my first, but I remember one a few weeks ago. I was running Clan laser vomit - Stormcrow I think, maybe Huntsman. We were on Crimson and I was on top of the centre platform, aiming down into the West city. I was aiming at the rear CT of an EBJ and they popped. They asked over All Chat what happened and I told them I rear cored them with 2x LPL & 4x ML. They told me that, no, it was a headshot!

Hurray for my poor aim and superior elevation! Posted Image

Don't even remember. I have something like 7 or 8 so far after years of playing. I don't try for them. It just happens.

Surprise - map was canyon network, don't remember what mine or the opposition mech were, just that they were both fresh and I think I dual gaussed them.

Headshots were regular for MW vidya gaem players, so when alpha/beta was rolling they were the normal thing to do and getting one was to be expected. However, now that you have to pixelhunt to headshot most things - and the head hitboxes change every few months anyway - I forget they even exist. I've been headshot maybe twice in the lifetime of this game. If I manage a headshot now I probably wouldn't even notice or just shrug it off as the fluke it is.

One of the games I died to a headshot was in a cyclops, literally peeped an edge, was hit by lasers and gauss and died basically instantly, or within .5 seconds, I had started turning to spread damage but had pretty much already died.

I think I then asked if there were autoaim hacks, as it had never happened before, literally dying within .5 seconds of seeing the first opponent in a cyclops... Kind of lame.

Dunno about the "first," but my most memorable one was lining up an assault for a dual gauss shot when a Spider jumped in front of him. Total BS luck, but I took the Spider's head while he was in the air. The rag-doll physics on the model were awesome when it hit and slid for about 100m.

Funniest death I ever saw was spectating a dual gausser, he hit an urbie mid flight, killing it, but it floated for a second after death, bumped its head on an overhang, did a flip and faceplanted. Total quality to watch, lol'd hard.

I don't know if it was the first time, but the first I remember is against an MAD IIC in my own one. 2 LBX and 2 PPC, shot at 50 meters to dead center. Blew out his cockpit in one hit. I was like "Whaaaaat?"

I did again a few days later against another MAD IIC. Long Story story is that 40 damage is overkill for a cockpit. :P

Heh, my actual 'first headshot' was way, waaaay back in something like MechWarrior 2. A friend and I set up our two computers in a LAN and dropped into a match, it was some setup where there were islands of ground with bridges and walkways between them. You drop about 1.5 KM apart and given the graphics at the time, the other mech is about 6 pixels large on the screen.

Pretty sure I dropped in a Marauder with 2 Gauss rifles, and I aimed at his tiny pixel and fired, just thinking to send him a 'I see you!' greeting as the shots went whizzing by. We both almost fell out of our chairs when his mech exploded into shards (because polygons were pretty big back then) 4 seconds into the match.

So yeah, dual-Gauss has been OP for a long time now. :)

Pretty amazing. I still remember it - I was in my KGC on the old Frozen City many moons ago, and I was being shot from all sides. An enemy Jenner ran past, so I tracked and snap-fired my AC20. Decapped the Jenner and up popped the headshot achievement. That felt pretty good. Then I died Posted Image

Still remember that, I was a total noob.

Old Caustic, trying to flank with my Shadowhawk, ac10/2srm4/2-3ml. In E3 there were some stone to cover, and suddlently a Hunchie came out esactly from there. Asap I saw it, I turn and shoot without any aiming. Headshot :D
I lolled.

But the best head shot I saw is this: old Terra therma, a friendly Atlas decided to lead the charge, and, not even entered, I heard the classic gauss sound... and the fresh Atlas slowly crumbling on his back. The enemies were on the opposite entrance.

My Most memorable one is when I head shot an Atlas in the canyon map. I was slightly above it and well, he walked toward my right side and I just turned after shooting another mech. I guess I was lucky as my AC10's and 4 ERL's were now pointing at his head and just gave him a broadside with everything. BAM! down he went. :)

I remember it well. Old Caustic Valley, I was in a Blackjack BJ-3, near-stock build with 2xPPC's. Had only been playing a week or two, and it was the first 'mech I tried with that much PPFLD. So I saw an enemy 'mech peek across the Caldera ridge, took the shot, saw him go down, with the "Headshot!" message popping up. It was pretty cool.
