Since starting to play MWO ages ago I have had a problem that when under heavy fire the movement keys stop working so that I cannot move out of the way. Example: My Arctic Cheetah is really fast so when engaged at close quarters by an enemy mech I expect to be able to reverse out of trouble when he is firing on me. Nothing happens when I am being hit and I am pressing that "s" key?

Is that normal?

Are you supposed to be paralised when being hit? I did notice a "skill" that hints at that. The one around giro improvements.

Help would greatly appreciated.

You are probably just walking into a stone, or a wall. Especially if you are reversing and don't look where you are going.
Being stuck in terrain does happen, but it's very very rare, and usually happens when you jumpjet into an almost vertical wall, or try to phase thru obstacles while lagging. It's not really connected to beind under fire. The only thing improved giros do - is reducing screen shakies when you are under fire. Your movement is not affected by it in any case.

If you aren't running into something maybe there's something wrong the keyboard? Mine has had cases where it has done similar stuff sometimes, might be due to it being dirty or something, but idk.

Are you accidentally hitting T or Y when panicking under enemy fire?

That's interesting as this has happened to me a few times over the last couple of days. When surviving I have actually looked around wanting to "blast" (verbally of course) a friendly mech but that was not the case. I have also thought that maybe invisible barriers were the cause as I like to stay close to protective surrounds.

Gents, I have had this phenomenon for quite a while now so I am mentally making notes when it happens. I am 95% sure that there are no impediments to moving. In the example I gave, I had previously closed in on a mech and was trying to reverse the same path that I arrived on. Now, it may well be that another mech had stood behind and produced an arctic cheetah sandwich but I really don't think that happened.
Is it my system? Well maybe. If it is getting overloaded with head shaking, moving objects and flame effects maybe the cpu never gets round to servicing the keyboard interrupts. I have quite a powerful system that usually yields 75 - 85 FPS in game with the options turned quite high.

If you are talking about a micro stutter type of thing that makes you feel flat footed its a combo of being hit and the lag correction system imo. Just try to roll play thru it Posted Image

Edit: and turn your gfx down. Doesnt matter how good you think yoru pc is it wil still react better with low gfx

Personally, I have not been locked when taking damage, but i have been glued to the floor when I lose a side torso on a clan mech?

I get it that I'm supposed to have more heat, but it's like I'm legged when I lost a side torso?! Is it a bug? is anyone else getting this?

Happens on clan mecs with CXL engines..

It could be a hardware problem with your computer bogging down and not proccessing the information fast enough. I have a problem with my PC becomming overloaded and unable to process all the information fast enough so it freezes. Try playing with as few programs (applications) running as possible see if that helps

Really? ....ok, even though this might be a troll post, I will answer:

Working as intended! You loose speed when loosing a side torso with cxl-engine.

It's not a troll post.. You do lose speed, and that's ok.. but you don't loose speed as much as when you're legged?!

For me it's like you're going 81, you lose a ST, and BAM, you're going 10 for several seconds.. you are hardly moving.. it's literally as bad as being legged, or worse.. and it shouldn't be..

You should loose some speed, but not be glued down to the floor, unable to escape and dying because of it.. it's ridiculous.

can you record, liek with shadowplays background recording where you just need to hit a button and ot keeps the record of the last 5 minutes? this helsp very much identifying "strange things" when you run into "hey wait I wanna see what happened" moments.
