I want to buff engines. I want a locust that goes 540 kph so I can outrun LRM's in an open field.

It's a conspiracy! The current LRM rain is to force players to equip and skill up AMS and Radar Deprivation. But once a critical mass is achieved, the conspirators will then suddenly switch to PPFLD, forcing the former to re-skill while spending SP, XP, and/or c-bills to compensate. Then those same conspirators will switch back to LRM rain and the cycle repeats itself.

As if that 3-4 month cycle (LRM->Lazors->GR+Lazors->SRMs->LRMS) wasn't here for few years now...

But it did not cost much then compared to what it will cost now in terms of SP, XP, and c-bills.

Here is the problem. Until recently players only had to equip a single radar dep module to counter the target delay advantage that EVERY LRM BOAT CARRIES. Now we have to invest heavily in EW skills on every mech. Otherwise we get pounded by LRM's every time we peek out to fire our (non LRM) weapons. It doesn' t matter if we kill every spotting mech and UAV. We still get pounded by 100 plus LRM's during the additional seconds of lock time that the ever present 3 or 4 enemy LRM boats get from their target delay skills. And hiding from LRM's becomes necessary for survival. Forget trading on Polar Highlands. My 60 point Alpha will be repaid by 100 points of LRM damage after I break LOS.
That is the current problem with LRM's that the new skill system has created.
LuRMing has become easier and generates quick C-bills so more pilots convert to the dark side and start LuRMing for fun and profit, making this a vicious cycle as well.

No problem,
i have read several times that lrms do unfocused, norelevant damage and pinpoint is king and that lrm damage is only 1/3 worth of pinpoint damage.
Doing 60 pinpoint damage against 33,3 (100/3) unworthy und unrelevant lrm damage should be a good trade.
Or do all the "high tiers", metawhores and tryhards telling ****?

Armed also with mediums and machine guns I usually put in ok damage as well so I feel I add value.
Cheers!

Whaaaah! LRM's can now kill me! I can't just laugh at "stoopid noobs" who carry them because they might actually damage me! I forgot how to use cover, take radar derp, and not stand around in the open, dual Gauss + PPC'ing my targets - which takes real skill! - and now I'm dying Whaaah!
Next week: PGI sucks for not making MWO like Battletech, whaaaa! Newsflash: In Battletech, LRM's are a viable weapon.
Deal with it.

LRM's are part of the combined arms doctrine. LRM's are part of the "history" of this story we play within.
I am a LRM driver and choose to do so. I don't want to be the 100 ton monster that wades into a wall of other 100 ton monsters and all you do is shoot everything to pieces.... That isn't what MWO is or ever was.
So, the vocal Assault drivers are complaining because they have to think...... By the way, AMS, radar dep and all of the other "tactics" mitigate LRM's to some point. But, the few of us that are LRM specialists, can defeat those concepts and have been since I 've been in MWO (a little over three months now.) We seriously try to "influence the battlefield" and try, often to no avail, to be part of a combined arms team.........
Here's something to ponder: there is a paradox that has been created by PGI. As you increase the potential of individual survivalability you must mathematically and equivelently increase the destructive power of the weapons systems emploiyed. NOT DECREASE THEM...... Why? Because the game is slipping into individual play where teams and combined arms aren't necessary..... We are becoming "Rock-and-Sock'em-Robots" where no one has to think anymore and them with the most will always win.......
I'm only adding my six cents because this game is falling apart from the inside and it's getting harder to put up with the anger, vicious words and angst many of the community feel towards anything that threatens their "rightful place."

the only true answer is manouver - and I'm talking about you - yes you in your Light Mech and you in your fast medium.... why do you try to outsnipe assaults - wouldn't it be great to use that god given speed to go the long route - oh not over the hill - the long way around the field to - put some SRMs and red and green lasers in the back of LRMs?
manovuer beats cover when it comes to LRM because LRM work superior in the FFF world
(Fix (LRM) Flank (NASCAR) Finish)
however manouver under the "view" of LRM Mechs and not playing a >800 armor point Atlas is not a good option
Not sure if sarcastic or serious,... But the points I raised are valid in all circumstances. The maneuvering you describe (although very personally rewarding if you can pull it off without initiating a lemming train) only works in the sort of concerted action rarely seen in PUG drops. Besides, it's usually still better to stick with the deathball, let combined ECM and AMS shield the team as you crush the opposition and run over the helpless LURMers as a cherry on the cake

Even with the current slight buff to LRMS because not everyone takes radar derp....stop blaming the weapon. They aren't OP. They can ruin your day if the enemy is engaged and can't break off for cover. That my friend is tactical LRMing. If people weren't blindly rushing at each other in balls they wouldn't have to worry about them so much.
So ya. Take AMS. That is your medicine.
My Wolfhound with AMS x2 gets between 600-1000 missiles shot out of the sky when LRMS are out in force.

Here's how I'd nerf LRMs, personally.
Maximum range reduced to 600m.
Damage reduced to 0.9 per missile for IS and 0.8 per missile for Clan.
Heat increased by 10.5%.
Velocity reduced to 80 M/s.
Lock can only be established on direct fire and with TAG.
Artemis effects reduced by roughly 30%.
Crit chance reduced to negative values. You now have a small chance to actually restore health to your target up to 110% of their armor values.
LRMs now travel in a direct arc and will hit every single small rock in their path, like an Assault trying to navigate rocky terrain.
Ghost heat on LRMs changed. Firing 2 or more LRM5s, 1 or more LRM10s, or even having equipped LRM15s and LRM20s will incur a significant heat penalty.
Mad Dog and Archer given negative quirks. Catapult OK.
What does everybody think of my fair and reasonable proposed changes?
You forgot the Skill Check roll.
Everytime you fire LRMs, there is a 4.7% chance they will circle back and target the heat signatures of your LRM launchers.

Sniping was the Meta before i guess, but with a little knowledge of the map one could usually get in close to do some brawling, this has become considerably harder.
Do LRMs need to be nerfed? In the current iteration, i'd say yes. I hate them with a burning passion, but they're here to stay, so might as well get used to it. Besided, new skill tree or no, since when does one leave the dropship without radar derp? This was suicide before the skill tree, and it still is - but that is exactly what bugs me.
There isn't a single other weapon system eating up tonnage / slots / Skill points / module slots, whatever. Against everything and anything else my armor and agility must suffice - but for the moronically easy to use autoaim system with a giant range bracket and absurd amount of ammo per ton, i have to load up additional countermeasures?
Thanks to this, LRMs don't seem OP to me, but they're a troll's wet dream. Regarding this, i'm pretty much for nerfing them into the ground.
