Traversing without jump jets is hard around maps usually. An atlas usually has to rely on ramps, in canyon network, etc. etc.

Here's an idea, what if battlemechs with arms could grab hold of edges their arms can reach, and use that to easily go up or down. Down side is that while hanging by the ledge, arm-weapons cannot be used. Likewise impossible to turn away, just forward or reverse.

Like this:

Think rock climbing.

I get what you mean, but technically those arms cannot support the entire weight of the mech.

Lol.

But it doesn't have to completely rely on arms alone, it could be a combination of both legs and arms to get up short cliffs. Like rock climbing.

Just give all mechs with hands +50% hill climb.

Sure i guess, that's one way of solving it.

I'd go for it if they could animate it decently and not screw up hit reg... Oh and people not complain about being a pinata while climbing ledges, cause yeah...

give mechs with hand actuators the ability to perform a high five and/or fist bump.

+3% cbill bonus if successfully performed in a match/ +5% if performed within 20 seconds of a kill assist (one time per match bonus)

It's not a bad idea... but they can't even get Inverse Kinematics (legs that follow terrain) working properly, and that was actually in the game at one point. 'Mechs that can dynamically mantle over big stuff without looking like a total pile of unwiped arses? Never gonna happen. We can't even get animations for stepping over ankle-height obstacles, FFS.

yep, like the high five in TF 2

https://www.youtube....?v=PYlo3OGRU3I.

But we also need a low five for mechs with height differences.
