Waning, Incoming controversial opinion:

With that out of the way there are a few mech's I'd recommend based on Clan tech AND correcting basic errors / survive-ability. The Executioner (Assault) and the Shadow Cat (medium). The reasons for this selection is the MASC system combined with Jump Jets. Now neither alone is really super good and arguably on the Exe the JJ's arent the best for sure, however this can give you an advantage the more you work with MASC and use it to crutch yourself into a better player.

While it's not the be all end all mech status of some of the better units like the Marauders or the Hellbringer etc: they're a few mechs that you can buy 1 of, play, ignore the meta and just feel them out largely because they don't have a place in it IIRC.

With time you'll run into situations where you'll think "I need to do this." / "That worked way to well" etc: and you'll have more experience in a "off meta mech"

Running those along side things like the Panther and more survivable mechs are what helped me bootstrap myself into a somewhat competent meatshield from lowly scrub. I can even passably play assaults now (still not good).

If you want one mech to rule them all the TBR is still the best clan do everything as many have said and I'd also have to give the Stormcrow a mention, that things still really good despite what some might say. Arctic Cheetah as much as I can't stand piloting it, while pigeon holing people into one play style will also give you a great expierence with a light and teach you how to play them for the most part.

would say any mech with high armor quirks, that in combination with skill tree right now gives you a nice bit of buffer to not pay atention to anything really. as beginners wont have situational awareness or reacting enough to torso twist,

all that ammo in the arm? - first crit and BOOOM

the main guns are in the LT - with XL this means to show your right flank - and when the arm is gone show the left - until that is gone too.... in this case he is dead or has no ammunition - would be much better to store that ammo in the LT simple because of the crit padding effect -

otherwise you are correct

You wouldn't need it all there, but you are going to be shielding with the other side of your mech because there's nothing useful there. Also he said he has a lot of problems keeping his legs in cover.

And I'd rather lose an arm with anammo explosion in a centurion and have a few minutes of full speed chest MPL than get a torso loaded ammo crit and die immediately.

The New player subforum has a nice (pre skilltree) thread about clan starter mechs:
https://mwomercs.com...an-mech-apr-17/

While the skilltree shaked up the meta, most of that info is still usefull (except for any mobility claims ofc).
