Get the Grasshopper 5H. It's overtaken the Whammy 6D for most in my unit. The heat gen quirks stacked with heat skills makes it magical for laser vomit. LPL for days.

My current mix...is a Phract, Roughneck and Dragon... with an Archer or another phract depending on map and whether its attack or defence for siege mode or one of the QP objective maps.
I have run three roughnecks and a phract as well. If the IS tonnage reduction happens like was discussed on Russ's twitter feed, to 250.... I am currently considering a bushwacker, dragon, roughneck and phract.
Given all the clan mechs still enjoying high alpha energy builds, and now ATM's increasing the number of missiles on the battlefield. All the mechs I put in the deck carry AMS, they all have armor quirks or better still, both armor and structure (like the roughnecks) and I'm giving preference to running Light engines instead of XLs.

If you have the cbills, the Stalker 3FB is now available for cbills. While it has no ballistics and is not blazingly fast, I find it exceptionally versatile for FP and in fact own 3-4 on my main and my alt.
My preferred builds (all with ECM and Standard Engines)
1) 4 ER Large Laser for trading situations (Arm mounts are high, and tight, good for both hill humping and side poking)
2) 6 MPL + 2 SRM6 for brawling (can get toasty)
3) Hybrid 2 ER LL + 4 MPL + 2 SRM4
You can easily take 2 in your drop deck and still have 95 tons to spare for 2 mediums or a light and a heavy ...all with ecm...
It has its drawbacks to be sure, but its something to consider if you wanted to try an ecm assault without sucking up all your tonnage.

Personally I'd take the cyclops with the ECM over the stalker. 5 more tons but way better mech.

I'll take agility and speed over hill hump tactics any day.
