Of course to poke, since the hardpoints are together. Besides, Urbie aint got enough speed to backstab, like Locusts or Cheetos.

Then you're doing it wrong.

There is nothing, nothing in this game, so glorious as getting behind an Atlas, firing up the lights and then shooting his back armor out and critting his AC20 or SRMs out.

It's more than nimble enough to stay on a mechs back. At 105 and tiny it's not a bad choice. It's not an ECM Wolfhound but it's a good enough choice, especially given that it can eat a little return fire and still be okay.

If I'm going to poke I'll take something like a Panther or Raven.

currently running 5sl and an ac5. its actually not terrible. got a few 500 damage games in it.

i kind of wouldnt mind a rac5/2 build but i dont see the urbie as being a great platform for that. maybe a lgauss would be better?

105 kph? Not my cup of tea. I'll have better success poking with its high mounts.

Strange, i could not make the CT hardpoint work. I reverted to 3x ML + AC5, and it works perfectly well.

LGauss requires the same sacrifices as an AC10 build, for -2pts of damage, a giant crit-bomb on your arm, and likely a charge time as well. That won't be a viable Urbie cannon; you'll need at least a 35-tonner to pull off LGauss, because then at least you could do a baby Gaussvomit with some MLs for backup. RACs, at least, leave space for additional weapons beyond the token SL.

Still can't figure out why K9 didn't get UAC jam chance quirks. It's as if they thought that a single UAC5 on a 30-tonner was going to be so OP that it didn't need help when even the JM6-DD apparently does.

Of course you are welcome to try to rear core my Assault, should you see me on the opposing team. I enjoy eating urbies for breakfast.

i dont think the urbie is fast enough or stealty enough for the backstab role. its more like a mobile turret you take to the vicinity of the murderball and do a lot of shoot n scoot. its more of a hit and run walk light. or if you lower your engine and up your firepower you pretty much are in fact a turret.

waiting on future tech.

For now, since it's a bloody effing abomination to run a K9 without a decent ballistic in the right arm, it's packing a UAC5, and 5s SLasers. Been getting decent but not spectacular averages with it, int he 8-9 games my baked potato has allowed. a little over 400 avg dmg. Haven't had any insane-o great matches yet, but not surprised because my love of Urbie aside, I've never claimed to be much more than an above average pilot at best... and Lights are not my best.

Still K9 plays a bit more like a sawed off Medium, hence my small modicum of success in it, whereas I generally get pure unadulterated abject fail from most "fast Lights". Still, I seem to do well enough not to be a detriment to my team (well my first match I was .... hadn't played in over 2 weeks, hadn't played Lights in over 2 months.... and got caught out of position and overrun. My bad. Since then my lowest damage was 370 something, my highest 490 something.

My fun level? Over 9000.

Still, expect that to increase come July, when the Deputy turns in his old 38 Special for a shiny new Glock......gonna be sporting a RAC2 and 5x ERSLs, with some Lite Ferro to boot. Might even add that 3rd JJ so I can finally jump over a curb.

not the point blank, in open stuff. Rooftop assassin in Mining Collective, etc? That I have pulled off against Fatties many a time.
