No reason at all. These are forums...this is where we chat about the game. My topic is that I think Incursion sucks. I even said why. You may agree or disagree, or ignore it all together. That is how a forum works. Nothing in my OP asks you to care, or even comment; and yet here we are.

So, the first game mode that actually rewards objectives fairly, and people are complaining about it. Terrific. But, why am I surprised. This happens every time we Light pilots ask for a better rewards system. The Skirmish junkies, MW4 grognards, and Assault potatoes whine because in this game, combat power is apparently all that is supposed to matter.

I don't think the problem that I am having is the mode per se, more the maps. Crimson can go either way for example. The map is small enough that if one side base rushes with lights the other team has time to get back and engage. Polar is the opposite, one or two lights may get through un-spotted but it isn't enough to take the base before the other teams 1-2 lights is doing the same thing or 1-2 reinforcements can arrive. The map is so big that a base rush is just not practical usually.

Whereas on Tourmaline, Frozen and Grim it is ALWAYS one or the other of: light rush or "everybody stay put". These two BORING options seem to be the only way to play these maps due to the the fear of the slow mechs being caught out of position and then being unable to respond. Its one or the other every time. At least when I play. cest la vie.

I like it a heck of a lot more than i like DOM.. god i hate that mode.. Not to mention Dom is so simple, yet people still can't grasp the concept.. Push the enemy out. You don't need to all be in the circle, But get to a flank and push through.

I really enjoy incursion, it gives me something else to do in a light, powering up the radar is a nice help too. I also like the base defense tactics.. Far better than the old assault with turrets.

My only grudge about it is the end, If you killed all of them and they haven't touched your base yet, it should just be auto win. It can add a couple mins getting to the base just to tap one thing for the victory. Its just not needed. They need to fix that one little aspect of the code.

Base rushing, like assault, protect the base, and use scouts to watch known lines.

I've won incursion matches by delaying the enemy long enough that they can't damage our base/catch up to the damage we've done to theirs, so no...there should be no 'auto win' if you skirmishtard it.

In my experience it doesn't play the same way all the time. There's quite a variety of situations and endings.

I like the mode because I like variety. Plus the payout can be really good on this mode.

Step 1: Complain that everything is Skirmish
Step 2: Complain that new modes have objectives.
Step 3: Get the new modes objectives nerfed so they don't matter anymore.

Repeat.

1. I've never complained that everything is skirmish,
1a. Even if I had it is irrelevant to the point I was trying to make, namely that on some maps incursion matches are predictably and boring and lame.

2. I did not complain about the objectives other than to say that it is too easy, on three sepecific maps to force the game to be 1 of 2 ways of being played and both of which are lame.

3. Yeah, I'd be okay with that actually. Since you brought it up...the objectives of having energy sources out in the middle between to fortified enemy bases and then running to get batteries from these power sources so as to power parts of your base on an individual basis is, well, stupid and about as opposite of an "immersive game play experience" that I can think of. Oh and then constructing said base out of the only material in the known universe -other than mech armor- that can actually be harmed is likewise mindbogglingly stupid. And lets not for get spreading out your base's defensive all over the INSIDE of the base as opposed to setting them up in concentrated firing lines where the enemy might actually advance.

Sigh.

Nevermind, Incursion is just f***ing perfect.
